Going by the stats, the only REAL thing thats improved is 80% of last years total won games have come in 7rds.

Wowsers. Those stats show a pretty grim look really. We are not performing like we think we are. I guess it's all coming down to the 30% luck.

Atm yes.
Though luck changes by the minute in sport.
Losing Pearce is a big hit of misfortune, if we lose a prop we are up chit creek.

Luck or the class of Pearce and Ponga in tight games, I wouldn't want to say either way.
In another season we could very well have lost the Manly Raiders and Tigers games and be 1 from 7 and in last place.
 
Maybe this turns out like 2011 where we didn't lose a game against bottom eight sides, didn't win one against the top 8, and snuck into the finals.
 
Here's a stat for you the only one i care about : We are competing for the full 80 minutes with a brand new team that wont be at its best till this time next year ...

And we scored more tries against them then any other side has this yr. Its a shamed we started poorly in that 10 minute period after halftime, other than that we were clearly the better side.

We are a work in progress, hopefully they learned from that, ok some ref errors but that will happen, being ready to play is what it's about. Plus side after 10mins second half we didn't collapse got back into it and got the win. This year was always going to be up and down for a while.
 
Don't forget too that 2 try's they scored if the refs had made the right call both times we would have had the ball down the other end of the field imo the score was very flattering for the tigtogs they should.nt have got more than 6 points if that ...
 
Firstly on Guerra, more than his reliability it is the culture change that he’s brought to the team...at a pre-season session early on with the young guys he called them to get their hands off their hips after finishing a drill - his words to the effect of ‘ you NEVER show the opposition you’re tired!’ And that is one of the key cultural changes in the team for 2018
