Future at Knights looks bleak post Bennett

Like it, wish their was an avenue to raise such points with the club, getting some feedback on such decisions.

I'm just beginning to think Knights fans are blindsided by the Bennett era and not what is installed for our future.

It would be good, of course we would have to be coming almost last for that to happen.

Dragons had one a few weeks ago, it went great apparently. Fans could practically ask anything they wanted... recruitment... membership... future decisions...

I don't really agree that the imminent future here looks bright. But I agree with the rest.

I'm really surprised we are re-signing Quinn. Tahu I do understand because he is still quality backup, but even then he spends half the time out with injury.

Newton coming here at the expense of the likes of Smith is beyond ludicrous.

I'm curious if our roster will get another major overhaul after 2014/15 season with a lot of players coming off contract, can only really see McKinnon, Roberts, Mullen, leilua, snowden, gagai, toka and sims offered contracts, leaves a lot to retire and move on

I just added that to the entry ASJ82

Gagai will be heavily targeted the rate he's going, as will BJ if they keep up their form.

Mullen should re-sign.

Some hope. We have our gun future hooker Clydsdale signed up, 2 of our best wingers in history - McManus & Uate signed up & Rochow, our hardest working player signed up after Bennett leaves. Mullo will be our 6 & captain until he retires. Snowy is the best prop we've had in years & should retire here.

The worry is young guns Gagai, Leilua, Toka Likiliki, Sims & McKinnon if he kicks on. If we can get half of them signed up we shouldn't be as bad off as everyone is making out.

Great article Alicia. Agree with everything said there.

We are stuck with no fullback once Wayne finishes up with Naiqama and Matui'tia gone. Worrying times ahead

There is a mountain of hope being placed on Clydsdale's shoulders. Let's hope he isn't a Seuseu.

Apart from that it's the same players that have done pretty poorly as a side this year.

You can't say any of those guys apart from McKinnon have been playing poorly? Those guys are probably the only few who've been our good ones.

If we get all them signed up & add a good prop, half, fullback & maybe hooker, play to our strengths & we'd be pretty good i reckon.

Just unfortunate we aren't playing to our strengths & half of those guys will probably leave with Bennett.

Fair point that we have no fullback when Bennett goes, but we do :) either slot Gagai there for a go (he will excel) or move Kurt back there. I truely feel Tyrone Roberts is a gun player and should keep the 7 on his back. Having to perform under the pressure he is from Bennett to keep hs spot is stupid. Bye bye Poppy Bennett and baby Darius hello premiership ;). (Maybe) ;)

This is true, but you're saying we virtually need an entire new spine in that post, and we've signed nobody for next season. I think any glory days are a long way away for us.

I think we need to start thinking along the terms of Gagai full back, Mullen , Roberts and possibly Kurt in the 9?? Along the lines of Robbie Farah!! Sure it doesn't sound like a superstar spine but I think it's not a bad start for the immediate future!

Alicia you are spot on with everything you have said, great article and points out some serious issues at the knights.

Agreed. Great article.

Looking at that team post Bennett - we have some serious issues.

We have 2 years to recruit and re-sign and start to shape our roster for 2016 and beyond, that is ALOT of time. I can understand being cautious but I really don't think we're in a position to be overly worried or angry when we have no idea what can happen over the next couple of seasons. How do we know Bennett won't extend his stay or all our best young players won't stay on board or Tinkler won't throw his cash at a bunch of stars or another star coach. We have one of the youngest and best backlines in the comp, Mullo is still young, we have some outstanding young forwards and a rookie hooker with massive wraps. Bennett also said that they're making it a priority to sign marquees for 2015. We all have the team's best interest in mind which is great but it's a little too early for me to start over-thinking the situation yet. That's just me.

I am still disgusted we didn't keep Kev or atleast have a decent dig at doing so.

1. Kev.
2. Jimmy.
3. BJ.
4. Dane.
5. Uate.
6. Mullen.

I'd take that first 6 in any over the comp.

Our forward pack post Bennett and even fully fit at the moment isn't top 4 IMO.

Agree with everything you said Alicia great article.

Once Boyd and Bennett move on and if we keep Mantellato, Leilua and Gagai with Tahu retiring, could we possibly see any of these:

1. Mantellato
2. McManus
3. Gagai
4. Leilua
5. Uate

1. Gagai
2. McManus
3. Mantellato
4. Leilua
5. Uate

1. Gagai
2. McManus
3. Uate
4. Leilua
5. Mantellato

And if there is a possibility of signing KFFL, could he be a back-up/NSW Cup back line player?
