My mother's family were some of the first settlers in Orange.
One of the main streets is named after her family.
The man in my avatar was born in Orange and was one of the first students of Weymouth House, which went on to be renamed Wolaroi Grammar. He was a top Union official in Queensland and was the first manager and selector of the Queensland League side to play NSW.
He was my grandfather's cousin.

Stats are in for reserve grade.
Tom Cant was close to the top for stats in every game last year, but this game he has gone to a new level - played 80 minutes at lock - 25 runs for 181 metres, 1 try, 40 tackles, 2 missed, 81 fantasy points.

Will Pryce got 74 fantasy points, boosted by 6 conversions and a try, but also 20 runs for 171 metres, 3 try assists, 1 line break and pulled down by 76% tackle efficiency.

Jacob Davis also got 71 fantasy points in 50 minutes at hooker - he was tearing them to bits in the second half.

Jermaine McEwen also had his best ever reserve grade run - 56 fantasy points, 15 runs for 163 metres, 31 tackles.

Tyrone Thompson only got the first 22 minutes, and we were mostly defending for the first 20. He had 3 runs for 35 metres but made 18 tackles at 100% efficiency.

Were they major land holders? Thinking Sampson or Moulder? Peisley also owned an inn and was prominent in the early history of the town. The Daltons if course too were a wealthy family locally. All have streets named after them.
Am I close lol 😝

We have had family here too for a while. Mainly farmers and a few small business owners. My Grandfather has a street and a park named after him. It’s on land that grandparents used to own in north Orange. A great uncle also was a mayor of Orange.

An interesting stat - 11 of the starting 13 ran for over 100 metres - the only 2 to miss out were starting props Thompson and Hopwood, who only got short minutes. They ranged from Jacob Davis for 111 metres at hooker to Fletcher Hunt with 185 at wing.

A letter my ancestor wrote to the Sydney papers from his store, Manchester House, on the corner of Byng and Anson Streets. It's basically saying the first gold is not near Bathurst, it's near Orange, and you can buy what you need at his store.

Will Eliot be fit enough (and most importantly sharp enough) with any game time to come straight back in? I’d rather he came through ressies but that probably won’t happen.

I guess we’ll see soon enough but running doesn’t bring match fitness. I vaguely recall people on here who went to training before the trials saying he was missing when they went too.
