Wade Graham would be our best utility option, imo. He can cover the halves, hooker and probably centre. He's already a quality backrower, so I wouldn't mind him playing some minutes there anyway.

We didn't have a utility last year, and granted that was because Kurt was injured, but I think there's a small chance he wont be. Very small though.

I don't get why people think Gidz won't be in the Blues squad!
His experience and versatility landed him a spot in an Aussie jumper and the same will be for NSW!
 
Watching Hayne last few weeks there is no way he can get picked on the wing over uate merrit or Mcmanus. He is just lazy and doesn't even try!

It's not that he won't be, more that he doesn't deserve to be.

This is said every year, he is picked every year & is outstanding for NSW, always one of our best. It would be insane to leave him out, he is truly a big game player.
 
If NSW wants to win state of origin I don't see, well he usually plays well (which IMO he doesnt) as an appropriate reason for selection. Based on that logic, why don't we select the ghost of Clive Churchill? He always played well
 
It's why guys like Hayne, Jennings, Bird, Lewis are picked, last few years they haven't looked that good at club level but when picked for NSW they lift. They've always played well so there's no reason to change anything. Uate shouldn't be there because of how he plays under pressure & Merritt shouldn't be there because he was terribly outplayed in City v Country. McManus is a hard one, he would not be fazed by Origin at all but he's not a game changer, his speed & footwork is starting to lift though to his credit so maybe.

It's the same reason QLD and Australia are so successful, they keep the exact same side every year regardless of club form, just look at Gidley walking straight back into the Australian side, it's about loyalty and knowing what you get of your incumbent players. Hayne is always brilliant in SOO so for that reason alone he should play for NSW again. Though agreed he's been awful lately for the Eels.
 
So Australia and QLD keep the players the same because they play well for them. Exactly why NSW should keep their players who play well. Hayne is yet to even come close to having a bad game for us.

Size and power all over the field aswell as speed to burn in the backs. A halfback that controls the game with his kicking game and a 5/8th that runs the ball and runs off his forwards aswell, what Fitler and Daley did so well for us in our glory years.
 
I was thinking about playing Hayne at fullback, that way you can have Uate and Morris in the team as well and Stewart isn't that much better. But I think staying with Stewart is best for the team. The rest of the team looks good, don't know why some people rate James so highly though, there's plenty of better forwards than him.
