I think that this World Cup is pretty wide open. Aus are a young side and pretty untested despite the match against NZ. No-one's really seen NZ at their best since SBW and Benji Marshall have been injured - to be fair, the halves Roberts and Smith did have a good third test. Eng are improving and picking on quality.
I'd like to see France do well because that'd give the game a real boost outside the North of England. (Did you know that Rugby League was banned by the French Vichy government during WW2? The sport's never really recovered from that - RU is the main rugby sport in France)
And finally..............yes, the daylight thing was a joke, meaning that Australia are so far in front as favourites that the daylight between them and rest of the field is so big that it's a competitor in its own right. And to hedge my bets, I've got a couple of quid on daylight - just in case!!!
