Women's state of origin 2 - Sydney

So controlled and composed from Jesse.

Forced drop outs are about five times more valuable in women’s footy than men’s. They’re not as good at getting the ball back & then even if they do long yardage sets out of their own end tend to be a bit harder to come by for the girls.

She forced 6 over two games.

John Strange having a bit of a dig about the Knights limiting Jesse to one half of the field

I assume with Tamika gone, they’ll allow her to play both sides and give her full control this year
Jessie and Evie need to be the halves with Jessie calling the shots and changing sides when she wants.
Georgia needs to play lock - or reserve grade.

I’ll allow it. Ben Jeffries did a lot of puzzling stuff. John Strange won the comp and then has done a great job with the Blues.

I’ll stop allowing it if this is him trying to poach her 😆

Great performance in the wet.
Kernick, Taufa and Southwell all were immense.

Not sure how easy it is to do in the womens game, but thought we were great out of dummy half. Constantly sent the markers the wrong way and opened up a lot of space.

QLD had no answers.

If you love rugby league as much as most of us do, the evolution of the women's game has been a blessing. I know I particularly enjoyed last night because NSW dominated, but it was still a high-quality, rugged, enjoyable game of footy to watch. I'm looking forward to the NRLW season.

Last year Pearson got picked because Hilder wanted a steady, mature hand on the till, and Pearson shat her pants at every opportunity.

Jesse, with the rep of being a more talented attacking player but maybe a bit erratic, put in the most composed & controlled performances we’ve seen from a female halfback at this level, ever, in my opinion.

I’d lean towards Georgia 14. Higgins needs to be spelled at 9 & I hate it when Liv plays lock. Have Georgia spell Liv at 9 then stay on to play the game out at 13.

Jesse looks far fitter this season also, that was the mail i got about Ben Jeffries was he was brought to give them a harder edge and train them harder. Which has been part of the conflict there.

Just very impressed with how she managed the two games too.

She was more heavily involved in more intricate attacking moves in the faster, more open game 1. The second game in the wet, though the Blues played some good footy, was definitely a game they won in the arm wrestle. Very patient game plan around putting as much fatigue as possible into the Queensland forwards. She was very happy to pick her spots and really mostly emphasize just pressing the advantage with her boot. A lot of young halves in her position there (+ all the hype she's heard about herself) maybe overplay their hand and chase glory a bit there. But the game plan was working and she didn't muck with it at all. That shows a lot of maturity. Great to see.
