If he has re-signed then no-one will take over.

Unless he has resigned.

Why do people keep getting it wrong, both ways haha.

I don't know about the ex-players. They may not have the technical know-how ... the thing about Meninga is he's not worried about getting in other good coaches who know more than him - would a NSW ex-player be humble enough to do that?

I don't think that techniqual no how will be an issue. If it was an ex origin player they would have been coached for about 15 years and would no what goes on. Also Origin tends not to be about techniqual stuff. Its about passion and commitment. The most successful coaches have been really passionate. And on the issue of getting in other coaches I think that sure they will, its not like every ex NSW player is an arrogant Jerk and thinks they can do it all them selves, certainly not Joey or Freddy who I would want 2 have if it was an ex player.

They know their position, but they wouldn't know the ins and outs of every position. Maybe Fittler then, with his experience as assistant coach to Anderson at the Roosters.

I think technical know-how is a must have! That is where Murray has fallen down, with his messed up interchanges, and dodgy attack. I think the NSW side has been plenty passionate, particularly in game 2.

I'm not saying they don't need techniqual no how of course they do, i didn't explain that very well. What I mean is that an ex player is going 2 have the techiniqual stuff and the Passion. The thing with Murrey, and Sheens and Bellemy is that they haven't played origin and have no idea of the intensity and passion needed. That is were we feel down. Murrey was TO techniqual. That and he has no idea about formulated game plans and using a bench. The players r the best in there position (well they r ment 2 b) and they no how 2 train and they no how 2 play. Thats y I think Freddy

Never stopped Phil Gould from doing a great job! Sheens has been there before, he knows what is required, give it to him. We shall agree to differ haha.

Gus is a one of a kind totally awsome. Apart from him all the best origin coaches have been ex players and all the **** ones haven't been. I'm all 4 Freddy.

Laurie Daley Would be ok, or Freddie, or joey.
I think an ex player would be great, but they would need to do what Big Mal has done. He has Raiders coach Neil Henry as his assistant.
If they could find a NSW coach in the NRL to be there assistant then it would be good.
I beleive an ex player would bring Passion to the team ( which they need badly ), and the assistant could bring the experience in coaching to the table.
Just my oppion but I could be wrong, I've been wrong before I just cant remember when

Tommy Raudonikis said on The footy show that he was going 2 apply 4 the job. That would be bloody awsome I just love the bloke. It would be good 4 the team bring back some passion, plus he has the technique and he has done it b4.

tommy is dead certain with joey as assitant at the moment is the words going round
p.s anyone here hate danny weidler and how he starts almost every sentance with my sorces

No-one likes Weidler!

Tom Raudonikis, I'm not sure it's the best idea. He doesn't have much idea.

Remember last time he coached he was in charge of Wests in 1999 - the worst defensive side in the history of rugby league (conceded on average 39.33 points per match).

holy crap they had a -659 for and against, also 6 teams had worse than -150, just goes to show how close the NRL is these days and how much it has improved because now every week is a danger game!!!

But Tommy was a pretty successful origin coach. He won the series in 1997, and although we lost in 1998, we went down in the final seconds in game 1 and had a seriously depleted side for game 3. Better then Murrey has ever done and proven at the top level which is better then anyone else in the running. The thing about Wests was that salary cap didn't play such a huge part and they had alot of crappy players. State of origin is the best of the best compared to his club side which was basically the worst of the worst. Not his fault.

Well to that I would say look at the quality of the Origin sides in those days. Queensland was ARL only players in 1997, and was pretty poor. NSW in 98 had Daley, Fittler, Johns, Ettingshausen, Brasher, Harragon, Kosef, Toovey ... a monkey could have coached them!
