Who should be number 7 for next season?

Pezet is the same age as Mitch Henderson and he has only been playing short minutes in Qld cup and not setting the world on fire, while Henderson is playing full minutes in NSW cup for the last few games.
Pezet is a better prospect, but they are both a couple of 18 year old playmakers who may or may not be able to handle the physical challenge of playing against adults.

Next year could be a rough one. Clifford at 7 with price and Hodgeson fighting it out for 1/6 and 14.

I'd really be looking at the guys off contract at the end of next year. In my opinion pezet and trindall are both quality. I realise pezet was once here but he could be stuck behind Munster, Hughes for years at Melbourne.

i don't think we need to limit it to players off contract, contracts are broken all the time. We need to look for halves that are stuck behind other players looking for a first grade opportunity

Will mean they probably wont be in the top 7 or 8 halves, but currently we'd have what, the 17th or 18th best halves in first grade 🤷‍♂️

I think we just need someone who can organise the team around the field that offers something in attack to help Ponga out. He can't be expected to do everything

I think Drew Hutchinson is a good player.

Stuck behind or in each other's road, someone mentioned on here the tigers want to play Brooks at the half then Hastings would have to play lock. He publicly said he wants to play half.

I don't enough about Jonah Pezet. Is he behind Cooper Johns at Melbourne? Speaking of John's is off contract at the end of the season.
 
Jonah Pezet is the son of the Knights former recruitment manager, Troy Pezet. Troy was let go from the club under acrimonious circumstances - and he took Jonah with him, who was in our pathways at the time. Pezet is now at Melbourne and recently had an outstanding MOTM performance for the Blues in U19’s Origin, but hasn’t taken the QCup by storm at this point, no pun intended. He’s very slim so he’s not likely to play first grade soon, needs to grow into his body, so he’s behind Cooper in that sense for Melbourne. But unlike Cooper, he looks like he’s very, very talented and was regarded as our future 7 when he was with us.

I don't believe Jonah left because Troy left. Troy was replaced by Dureau and Kosjaysyn as pathways coaches a few years before, and we probably only kept Troy on the books in a "recruitment" role because Jonah was so talented.
I believe Troy thought long and hard about what was best for Jonah and made a deal with Melbourne to take him on and continue his development. Jonah is still a kid and is taking up a top 30 spot for Melbourne. We would never give him that.
In short, he didn't leave because his dad had a hissy fit with the Knights - he left because his dad organised a great deal for the top club in the comp to develop him properly.

Why wouldn’t we offer him a top 30 spot though, lol? We did it for an English kid who plays the same position as our best player, who’s in his early 20’s. The halfback we did have was, what, 30 at the time? Should have already been thinking about what comes next.

Not a bad option.
Hutcho tore apart the knights on Sunday and been adding great value to the NRL side most weeks.
Although be hard to bring him away from a great winning culture at the Roosters.
 
Over the last 48 hours I've become convinced that we should offer Munster the salary of two halves to come to Newcastle.

It is so obvious to me that this is our only way to somehow springboard out from this hole.
