This was achieved. Really smart tactics made good use of our limited forward pack. Nice to see a lot of thought go into that weak area.

They played like a side that knew they wouldn’t be able to control the game for the full 80, so they just kept competing, tried to turn the tide.

That set where the Cowboys went the length without a line break, that was ugly as hell, but it happens to almost every side now in PVL ball except Penrith, Canterbury and Canberra. That’s where things would really start going bad under AOB. But we regrouped.

Brisbane just won a comp while being able to control the ruck for, in two of those finals games, maybe about 25 minutes. But boy do they make hey when they’re on top.

Hope he can keep it going but Croker was massive for us today. Worked his arse off to get that value out of a low pid forward is what we need.

Yeah true. But very promising signs. In all the time AOB was head coach when did Kalyn get an opportunity like the Sandon Smith inside ball off the back of an offload? Such a basic “look” you see fullbacks like Teddy get all the time but it’s like AOB had choked it out of us.

Never, and it drove me absolutely mental that KP wasn’t put in such obvious positions for a fullback

I was going to say, I’d love to see the defence we displayed in the early/mid part of last season. We were defensively sound, just couldn’t score points. I think defence shows a lot about mindset.

I’d absolutely love to see some attacking plays/shapes that look like they’ve been practiced 100 times over pre season.

I want to see Brown run the ball. Just enough that the defence don’t know if he’s a playmaker or a running 6 either.

Lastly, I want a 40/20. Or a 20/40. God, I love those.

My only concern from Vegas, it had a GF vibe and the players were really up for the week and game. Getting back home and into reality might be a downer for them.

My hope, the week was a massive team bonding / building exercise that has brought the guys closer together.... From the outside looking in, they do appear really closely knit.
