Trials at Redfern V souths

14 - 28 with a kick to come - souths scored on the buzzer
Our guys were out of gas from defending against a much bigger team.

1. Kai Saric
5. Mel Nonu
6. Chase Butler
24. Ryder Crosswell
9. Diesel Hagan
12. Roy Simpson
13. Cooper Townsend

Saric looks like a long lost Hoad triplet, hopefully he's as good.

big forward 16 had a few good runs late in the half
Hagan has a new haircut and looks like Brailey out there.
The blonde Kiwi union convert looks OK off the bench in 10
Roy Simpson will be a handful when he fills out a bit - he's all skin and bone.

14 - 22
Chase Butler scored himself.
He's been the standout for us.
He has all the skills - just needs to get adult strength.

14 - 28
all the souths tries look pretty soft - like we haven't spent time on defence - they just keep sliding through gaps.

My standouts from the day - Chase Butler at 6 in Ball. I think he is as good a prospect as Pezet was at the same age. His kicking game and passing game are already top shelf, and he's a big guy who can run and defend.

The 20 in Tarsha Gale, who I think was firstgrade squad member Emily McArthur, came off the bench and just turned the game around. At this level it was Caitlan Johnson like impact. She's only 18/19 I think, but I don't think firstgrade is out of the question this year. She was impressive in reserve grade last year and looks to have grown bigger and stronger. If it wasn't her in 20, we have found a new top prospect.

The 1 in Tarsha gale could have been Ellazae Elers - who has already won multiple awards in 7s, touch, union and League. The try she scored today would be short listed for try of the year if she did it in the comp. She streaked through the middle of Souths forwards like they were all in slow motion and she was at double speed - like the flash in a movie. A 60 metre try where she made about 10 players look like they had cement in their boots.
