Trey Mooney discussion

The Herald have a history of getting angry about their stories getting reposted here. He says all the right things, though.

To paraphrase:

- Says he wants to "impose his footy" on the comp and the Knights
- Says he's always felt like he was ready and just had to bide his time, but now he's here
- Says the Knights recruitment wasn't a sales pitch or promises, they just said there's a spot to be taken and it's his if he wants it
- Says round 1 felt like he debuted for the first time, and says he'd be happy if it was his last game
- Says he was a big fan of Tyson Frizell growing up so excited to be playing alongside him
- Says everyone outside the club talks about there being a rebuild but he says there's no rebuild here, "just sharpening our tools"

Thanks mate

It’s going to sound like I’m being mean or ironic or somethin but I mean this totally sincerely, “no rebuild, just sharpening the tools” is rugby league mindset in its truest form. Complete gibberish but I know exactly what he’s saying and I feel it in my bones. I think I’m in love.

Leo, tool. Trey, sharpened
2025 round table of halves, tools. Brown/Smith, sharpened (besides Sharpe, cos he is, um Sharp)

Ah thats so lame but I'm pressing reply anyway. Sorry for wasting your brain cells
I genuinely enjoyed that!!

According to Danny Weidler, Mooney almost got into it with Clint Gutherson at a club in Vegas during the lead-up to the game. Security from both teams stopped anything from spilling over, and the NRL are aware of the incident but haven't intervened further so doesn't seem like it was too bad.

Will keep raising this because it annoys me (more than it should).

Bloke absolutely does not want to take tough runs. 4 runs that half, only 1 in our half where he got smashed by Hetherington. As soon as the ball passes halfway he gets interested.

Hopefully big second half from the second stint specialist.

Definitely agree. J saf is the one rolling up the sleeves. All the talk from Trey wanting to be a good prop. Well show us.

If the coach isn’t happy with it he’ll find himself on the bench soon.

He’s definitely more of a follow up runner than the play 1 guy. Which is usually Carrigan’s role. But also Carrigan takes 3-4 tough carries out of trouble each half as you say.

He came up with one horrific read in D but he was leading the tackle count among our middles when he came off.

I don’t disagree with the criticisms but he’s been way more good than bad overall so far. And the second stint being way better thing is actually good? Most props are worse in the second stint.
