J Saf is I think is usually better in stint 1 than stint 2 so that kind of works out.

It’s one game but I feel like we saw why many of us have been saying that we need a prop like Mooney more than we need one like Leo irrespective of who’s better.

If we could add a Carrigan style lock to those two we’d have a great balance.

That’s kind of just modern rugby league tactics though. Payne Haas takes a bunch of runs like that every game & they actually use him a bunch on an edge in attack. You ride out the tough periods with the backs taking tough carries and then if you find a bit of momentum you have the pigs turn a little bit of momentum into a real roll on.

I thought he was great again today, TBF his efforts and off ball work is Newcastle all over everything we could ask for, this was from what ive read and felt why we didnt like Leo. Leo was a proxy of what could be great but low desire, Mooney may not be quite as good but desire and effort (and offloads) IMO is way better. Just how i see it.

He's a great robin to JSaf's batman. Jacob was great today, and is our only battering ram, for lack of a better word. Mooney's work rate is an excellent foil. If we were to add Barnett to the rotation, well, POS has gone close to building a solid squad...
