Tinkler's $100M offer - It's back on

This guy does more backflips than Danny Wicks.

Dunno what to make of the second half of the article though. seems like more potshots at the board by Rothfield and Toohey. Stuff we have already heard many times about this $500,000 loan.

"If a formal proposal is now

drawn up and presented in the same way it was tonight, the board will support the offer and take it to a meeting of Knights members to be ratified," a source said last night.

It is understood the meeting to decide the future of the club will be held around the end of March.

With board support, the deal appears certain to go through.

Former Knights board member and current NIB chief executive Mark Fitzgibbons has been a key intermediary between the two organisations over the past 48 hours.

haha sounds to me like Burrisron and Tew had a talk and said look the members are really ****ed and they are going to vote us out anyway , let's talk to Tinkler again and see if we can negotiate a new deal may be we can keep some pride .

 nice theory buddy.

Tew and Burraston havent shown any weaknesses to cave in this whole saga from way back in November/December.

I don't agree with Tinkler taking it on himself to recruit players and as the article says we are far from going broke without Tinkler's involvement!

I think the board really has only had the clubs interests at heart!

In saying that I think Tinklers investment in the club would be positive as it would hopefully make Newcastle a place top tier players and coaches want to come to!

If the board are happy with it and everything has been patched up, particularly buying back the club, then it's a no-brainer

Either do I we employ someone to perform that job and a coach to make those ultimate decisions, at the end of the day his call to Kade was an offer, but it was also to remind him that there is no rush to sign with the Sharks, and on that point he is right. Kade could do himself a dis-service by signing now, for his own worth and also the limitation of his opportunities.

There was nothing illegal about his call to Kade. However personally I find it overstepping the mark big time and morally wrong. The call messed with the kids head and could possibly lead to legal action upon him. I wouldn’t want to see us thinking we have Uate signed only to have Crowe call him just before his media conference and signing telling him to hold off. We would be blowing up deluxe.

IMO Kade is not worth the $$ being spoken about anyway.

Any management team worth their salt would not tell a player who is yet to put pen to paper, that a press conference is on this afternoon to announce your signing.

Bad mismanagement all around, the Sharks have not said a word since because they know they were partially at fault, I guess next time they will ensure that that are signed before making grand announcements.

It will be interesting to see weather the deal is legal to bring Kade home and if the NRL allow it to go through.

As for the offer Tinkler has made again, if all the doubts about the proposal are ironed out, and members are aware of all the details, then why not. As long as the club has some protection.

Be careful with the comment maddog. I bet my left nut that we along with other clubs have done the same thing many, many times.

I think some of you are missing the big picture here.

We all know that if Tinkler takes over, Stone won't be re-signed. Tinkler has admitted that he wants a big name coaching the club.

I have no doubt that he has been negotiating with Bennett this whole time. If you don't believe this, you are kidding yourself. It was published today that Ken Edwards from the Tinkler group has close ties with Bennett.

Tinkler very well knows that Bennett will coach a club that he genuinely believes will win a premiership. So he has taken it upon himself to recruit players and make the team look more attractive to Bennett or future coaches. The current player roster is also important to any future coach. Idris and Snowden are players that we know about....but I really do believe he has been in contact with others. No doubts.

When in fact Tinkler owns the club, he won't re-sign Stone and if it's not Bennett coaching the team it will be someone else.

Yep we probably have, but I am simply going off the article from the weekend, cannot remmeber which paper, but he seemed rather upset that they appeared to be forcing him into a press conference....... it probably ahppens all the time and given that we had withdrawn our initial offer it probably would not matter in normal circumstances, but this world is a fickle place and it be best that NRL teams confirm and get signatures in the future.

Anyhow we are getting off topic for this thread.

I agree, that is the only worrying thing about Tinkler, he is willing to pay overs. I believe he is a good player, but he is no Petrolseventycentsalitre.
