I’ve never played the NRL fantasy version but I know there is a difference with the scoring. One difference I’ve heard is Fantasy gives points for kick meters where SuperCoach does not
NRL Supercoach rundown
You need to select 17 players from your squad each week. Last year they introduced an 18th man as the flex position. So now you get 18 players each week. Most people will select a fullback in the flex position as they tend to score the best
So SuperCoach will automatically give you your 17 highest scoring players
- You have a squad of 26 players and you need to select 18 each week
- SuperCoach will then automatically give you your 17 highest scoring players from your selected 18
- you must select a captain and vic captain each week. The captain scores double points, so you ideally want it on your highest scoring player. Always put your VC on a player who plays before your selected captain. Usually it’s a riskier option that they score big because if they do they will score double points if your captain doesn’t play. Basically it’s a free shot and if it comes off you change your captain to a non playing reserve. So you adjust your starting 18 to accommodate your change of captain. You still want to keep them in your side as they will score well, so you’d move another player out of your team who you don’t think will score as well
- you can make changes to your side at any time until their game has started, then all players for that team get locked in. It’s a rolling lockout
- you get 40 trades for the season, you can make 2 per week. During the major bye rounds, which there are 3 of them, you can make 3 trades those weeks. You also have 5 trade boosts which come out of you 40 trades for the year, they are not an extra 5 trades. You can use one of these boosts a week, a maximum of 5 times. So normal rounds it increases trades to 3 and major bye rounds it increases trades to 4
- players prices don’t change until they play their 3rd game. Then they change each week
- you want to increase your teams value so you can buy better players that consistently score higher points. So you need to start the season with guns (players that score well) and cheapies that will increase in value so you can buy more guns. Cheapies are rookies or players that their value dropped due to injury etc
- the points are awarded as follows:
> 17 scoring a try
> 12 try assist
> 4 try contribution
> 4 goal
> -2 missed goal
> 5 field goal
> -1 missed field goal
> 10 for a 2 point field goal
> 1 each tackle
> -1 each missed tackle
> 2 each tackle break
> 6 forced drop out/forced scrum
> 4 effective offload
> 2 ineffective offload
> 10 line break
> 8 line break assist
> 10 for 40/20 or 20/40 kicks
> 8 for kick and regather break
> 2 hit ups 8 meters or more
> 1 hit ups under 8 meters
> 3 holding attacking player up in goal
> 5 interception taken
> -3 kick that goes dead
> -2 penalties conceded
> -2 each error
> -8 sin bin
> -16 sent off
I think that covers everything NRL SuperCoach
