This is more for Pommie Knight, mate what sort of League Hookers are on the market that would be a good investment for the Knights, recomend anyone English, or an ex NRL Player? Possibly coming off Contract? And relatively young.
 
James Roby and Matt Diskin would be the only ones worth it, whether they are off contract and would come here is another question though.

One could only imagine we would have at least 300k+ once Bedsy retires, Mad Dog also looks set to retire so at least 150k there, also depends how much we have topped Vunas contract up.

James Roby... wonder if his off contract, it takes alot more than just signing a player. Theyve got to leave the country.
 
Ah 300k. That should be enough to get almost any player we need.

What is the salary cap amount? I haven't really pay any attention to the player contracts before...
 
I wonder if Aaron Gorrell is off contract, he would worth having a look at.(Currently at Les Catalans)

Maybe Matt Gidley could convince him of what a beautiful place Newcastle is ;)
 
Both Wigan hookers are off-contract at the end of the season. Micky Higham's the older of the two and has the more experience but Mike McIlorum is a better idea for the Knights. He's only 20 and getting a lot of first team games this season and would be a good investment.

I believe Wigan have made a play for Terry Newton at Bradford but he's turned them down. I don't know if Brian Noble's going shopping in the NRL for 2009.

I can't see Roby leaving Saints right now. He's going to be the first choice hooker for years to come and I think Roby wants to emulate Keiron Cunningham. I also don't know what Matt Diskin's situation is now that Bedsy's going to Leeds.

If I hear any more news about hookers I'll let you all know. I'll keep my ear to the ground (well, to the telly anyway!)
 
But if we signed Flanagan all we would need is someone for about 2 years or so, so really age isn't that much of a worry.

Even if we just offered Quigley an 80k contract or something, it would only be a temporary thing until Tyne Owen gets a bit more experience or if we sign Flanagan and he gets some experience.
 
McIlorum has just re-signed with Wigan until the end of 2010 with an option of a third year. He's come through the academy into the first team this season so I can see how Wigan would want to keep hold of him.
