With not many players to choose from in the NRL. Should we be looking for replacements for Scott, Faalogo etc from the ESL?

There's a number of players go great guns from England in the NRL at the moment.

Most of the players over there don't train at the same level as NRL players.
You see that when they come over here and nearly all of them get much better after an off season of NRL type training.
The trick would be spotting guys who have the capacity to improve in a hurry.
The big name guys over there probably do train at a professional level and get paid just as much as our players, but there are a lot of young guys over there who really could be bought for second tier money and have the capacity to improve a lot.
Sandercock was a firstgrade coach in the ESL last year and had a reputation of being able to spot good prospects, so I could see him being able to find us a couple of 23 year old props with a lot of potential.
We missed out on his hooker from last year though, who has gone to Canberra and is going great.

Would love a Sam Burgess or James Graham. Do they have any more of those in stock?

The question should be do the powers that be think we want anyone? I do not think Rick believes we need a top half back desperately regardless where he comes from.

I would love to see Ryan Hall in the NRL but I don't think he would do it at this stage. Brian Carney when he came over here for a year was a ripping success and I think Hall could have that same sort of success.

Yup cause that's exactly what we need more wingers

We need someone to replace Faalogo on the bench

BENCH:

14Stockwell
15Houston
16Randell/ A young prop that might come good from our reserves
17 An experienced prop.

Not sure how anyone would suggest we get rid of Fa'alogo whilst keeping Houston, whilst not even mentioning Tapine

To be fair, Fa'alogo hasn't been all that much better than Houston this year. I was a big fan of his form late last year, but he's been pretty sub par since then.

Stockwell has been our only real performer off the bench that can bend the line a bit. Tapine as well when he's actually given a run.

Not saying for the Knights, just in the NRL. Honestly I don't see the need for ESL players at the moment for the Knights but I think it would be interesting to see how Hall goes in the NRL. Don't know which club.

Just watched the highlights of Leeds v Wigan. Arthurs has really turned Leeds around based on that performance. There’s a lad who pulled all the strings called Miller or something like that who we should check out. Think he played full back but could probably play in the halves.

At this stage I'd say its almost a must.

Not a lot of spine talent going on sale in the NRL, and those usually go to contender clubs, or Sydney clubs.

Just noticed Val Holmes signed with the Dragons and honestly that hurts to see.

Sydney clubs seem to be able to be a basket case and reinvent themselves fairly easily, signing quality players.

Newcastle seems to only attract fringe players looking to try and break in to regular NRL, or over the hill players looking for a payday. God only knows how we got KP.

Remember that player poll years ago where Newcastle was seen as one of the most desirable clubs to play for. Was around the Brown-OB transition.

I would love to see that poll broken further down by playing position and length of time in the game. And another one run now.

Didn’t we get two of the better ESL in KPP and Pryce think that’s enough for time being unless some super number 7 comes along as that is what we need.
Our team overall is quite good especially outside of the spine and we have young potentials coming through.
