Shane Flanagan - Obi and Gardiner at odds

Grandpa Joe

Danny 'Bedsy' Buderus

If I was Obi I'd be firmly against it to.

"Flanagan took the Sharks to their maiden premiership in 2016. He is suspended from taking on a head coaching role until November 1, 2021, but worked on the Dragons’ coaching staff last season."

My brother played under him in, in the lower grades of his Parra days, absolutely ruthless and no nonsense coach who takes BS from no player and holds each individual to account for their performance.

Proof in the pudding he kept Andrew Fifita in line when he was at the peak of his f--kwittery to the point where he was the best forward in the game. I hate the term, but his exactly what we need at the club and if Obi doesn't fall in line we have a ready replacement.

If Flanagan is in line for top coaching job if Obi fails then he is unlikely to help him succeed.
Don’t have a problem if Flanagan becomes the man but he shouldn’t be involved prior to changeover.
If we lose Obi part way through this or subsequent seasons then let his assistant complete the season and seek the best available for the following.

Not sure if it’s related It still makes me wonder why we didn’t go for Shaun Wane after sacking Browny. Wane still has a huge intention to coach in the NRL after this year’s Rugby League World Cup Is over and will want to transfer his success from winning three premierships with Wigan. Wane’s blowups in the sheds are absolutely legendary and no wonder why he is touted as the British equivalent of Craig Bellamy.

No thanks it's the whole peptides and salary cap cheating thing. Sharks only kept their title because somehow miraculously according to Greenburg they were under the cap on grand final day

Firstly, OB deserves his time to succeed, he should be picking his staff and given the chance to do well.

As soon as the club starts meddling in that the writing is on the wall.

As for Flannagan, if he is hard nosed and will hold players to account, he could be exactly what we need to turn the culture around.

Im now seriously doubting OB has what we need. But, he has had a squad with endless spinal injuries so...

We've had injuries yes but we have gotten worse this season even early on with players fit.

Things are coming to a head, Obi not looking good, team riddled with injuries, talk of others coming in, seibold now, Flanagan soon and team dropping to 14.
Signed Clifford, Pearce and Ponga back soon, others back over next few weeks only thing that saves Obi is results. Not top 8;but effort, signs of improvement, team working for the coach. If momentum doesn’t come with player returns then he is definitely gone, part success means we are in discussions.

Absolutely we should bring him in, obviously what AOB is doing isn't working.

Have said it from day one, we need a coach that is no nonsense and doesn't take crap from the players.
Agree totally. OB hasn't worked.. His nepotism with Seibs is looking bad and his excuses look poor. The board looks like they have seen enough and he will be sidelined until Flanno's ban is over.
