Second pre-season trial - Knights Vs Bulldogs - 6:00pm Saturday, 14th February - McDonald Jones Stadium

Saw the full time score during a horny date night with my wife. The pessimist in me thought here we go again! The optimist soothed me with “it’s only a trial” she’ll be alright. Then the realist in me prevailed and I honed in on getting laid.

But seriously, were we that bad? I’m watching the Vegas game in Byron on the annual boys Byron break and would hate to have the Knights deflate the weekend with a lop sided result vs the Cowgirls of all teams!!

I am glad you got laid....you scored, something the knights couldn't do.

And unfortunately yes they played really bad, couldn't even hold the ball.

Being a trial game I’m not getting too disappointed yet.
2025s best defensive team against 2025s worst attacking team with a new halves pairing who have not played together before was always going to be a big ask.
Still mildly disappointed we didn’t score at least one try.
The Brown/Smith left/right debate can possibly be explained by Holbrook deciding Smith could fill Ponga left side running attack threat, but it was a bit of a fizzer.
Our forwards were quite good, but I thought Mooney should have been in the lineup to get his first grade minutes up.
We will need some big improvement in attack to match the Cows in Vegas.
Mooney had a very good game in NZ today and played big minutes.

It really looked like someone told him to start having a go at half time.

The split would have been 1st half 5 runs 32m, 2nd half 8 runs 75m.

Not sure if he can put two halves like the second together but happy days if he can.

I thought our first 15 minutes we were the better side then the drop balls started they scored in the next set. It looked like they scored after a error from us the next set on all of there tries with 18 errors lucky the score wasn't higher

If the NRL want to be punitive and cynical in how they rule on suspensions during novelty themed BS games during pre-season, then players should tell them to **** off and refuse to play in these games moving forward.

Congratulations on the sex mate, way better use of your time than watching Newy.

Very Utoikamanu areas that.

In Cup he's been one of the more prolific metre eaters and he's been pretty reliable for 100+ in the NRL if Ricky gives him a full game. I think I've said before the Mooney package is: big motor, ball skills, unusually fast & mobile for a prop, but I don't expect him to be this amazing back fence play 1 smash through the line guy... that's not his game, not saying he's awful on play 1 but J Saf will probably continue to be our only outright good forward of that type. I suspect looking better as the game goes will be a pattern for him, rather than getting us on the front foot immediately. There's a reason that when we signed him, when we were talking about the team in 2026, I kept proposing he play lock, rather than prop.

The thing is though that beggars can't be choosers and while I've put **** on certain forwards for being "stat padders" in the past, I kind of feel like the current team has a lot of guys that aren't impactful OR high work rate OR hugely skillful... would be great to sign a guy who's 10/10 at everything but considering how far off we are at everything, getting the work rate and the ball skills for $500K a season should be a pretty decent investment.

I reckon he's going to lead all our middles for running metres and maybe tackles too. Will probably create some stuff with offloads. Would be handy if he can get really good at finding his front and getting quick PTBs with his footwork - sometimes in the NRL he's looked like a guy too used to running over NSW Cup forwards who needs time to adjust to running into guys as strong as him.
