Sebastian Su'a discussion

Needs to work on his technique so he doesn't become Saulo 2.0 with every opportunity he gets he wasted it with high shots, penalties and suspensions.
 
His player profile says 198cm, is that legit? For some reason he looked at lot smaller on tele. 🤣

I think he has been at the club for a few years and had some sort of injury that kept him out of a lot of football.
Anyway, he has grown a lot in both size and skill after having a good pre-season this year and playing nearly every round in either Flegg or reserves.
Another pre-season should develop him into at least a bench prop for firstgrade.

I see a guy with huge potential, it has been a long time since we have had a big aggressive man at the Knights. The best of them was Chief, and given the right preparation, and with the right mentor, he is exactly what we need to give our forward pack some grunt.
We have won 2 grand finals and both of them had big aggressive forwards that led the way. Even with today’s game rules, big aggressive forwards play a major part.
We need to encourage and mentor Sua to help us get the next premiership.

Article in the Herald that says he joined the Knights last year after being spotted playing in a Rugby Union tournament - so he is a recent (2023) Union convert, which explains how ordinary he was last year.
I honestly thought we were crazy getting rid of guys like Ben Talty and giving Sua game time.
 
So we will have two Rugby converts in Tyron and Su’a. Hopefully Tyron doesn’t take to long to adapt to league.

So this article gives a better perspective on where Sua has come from.
As I said in an earlier post, he was way below standard in 2023 and it was puzzling what we were doing with him. We let Ben Talty leave, even though he was playing 80 minutes in the middle for 200 metres and a lot of tackles, and pretty much gave his spot to a guy who had 20 solid minutes and 3 or 4 good runs in him. I assumed he was in his 20s because he was playing cup and not Flegg, but turns out he was 19. We now find out he was a big kid who came straight from junior Union and was learning League as he went.

The headline "Bin there, done that" is supposed to be a kiwi accent spoof I think.
It basically says Leo Thompson showed him how to transition from Union to League.

He said Kiwi international prop Leo Thompson, a fellow convert from the 15-man code, has been a willing mentor.
"I caught on pretty quick," he said. "It helped having Leo Thompson, who also had a transition from rugby union. That made it a bit easier."

In Toohey's news this week he pointed out that Leo and Zeb are both close to Zammit who is now at the Roosters. I assume from that, that Zammit recruited Sua to try to reproduce his success with Leo.

Yeah, it probably was.
I thought he buried the headline by leaving all the Leo stuff till the end of the article. That was the interesting bit for me.
