Salary cap?

If we were to get an increase in the slary cap ie: If the cash was avaliable for all clubs, what should it be increased to?

I'd say 6.5 million!
 
I don't particularly think that they need to increase the cap, just make heaps more exemptions for local juniors and long service with the one club, as well as no limit on third party earnings.

There needs to be a limit on third party earnings though.

As teams will just sign players on minimum wage but boost it up with other sponsorships, therefore obviously having more room on the cap to get more stars.

Yea I agree, not a major rise so clubs can still maintain healthy earnings, but not too little to force our players elsewhere.
 
I agree with James, except on the third party earnings. As the rules currently stand a player can make as much money as they like with sponsors, as long as that sponsor is not a sponsor of the club they are playing at. More players need to go and get their own sponsorships.

I really don't want the NRL turning into European soccer where there is no salary cap, and all players are intereted in is money. In the EPL the big 4 are always in the top 4 because they have the most money. It's stupid IMO to have a too big salary cap.

Also if the salary cap went up those on the minimum would get no extra but the marquee players would demand the bonus salary.

As soon as the NRL ditches the salary cap, SuperLeague will do the same. A dangerous precedent considering the amount of EPL football money that would be available to some RL clubs here e.g. Wigan, Hull.
 
One major thing they need to look at is some sort of exemption for players staying at a club for a certain period of time. This would stop players going overseas mainly.
 
Im happy at how the salary cap is. I agree though AK, a slight increase wouldnt hurt to keep local juniors and stop the overseas market.
 
where would the money come from if we had an increase????

most sydney clubs are struggling now with the pokie taxes from leagues clubs

from the nrl????
