Sack Adam O’Brien

I

I was telling my wife this evening how ****ed it is that we’re not even in May and the season is done. So depressing. Only part of 2025 Rugby League to get pumped about is Origin. But even that is tainted with the ****wit Daley being in charge. God knows what team that twat will put out there.

The thing is last season, around this time we were saying the same thing, season is done etc. Then somehow they turned it around and made the 8. I can't see that happening this season though.

2 wins, then 5 losses on the bounce. Next week likely to be 6 losses.

OB in the presser, missing middles and short turnaround, we get a longer turnaround this week, we'll get some rest and head to magic round.

1:05 of the presser. Called it. Played the short turnaround card then mentioned getting in a good week and go to magic round.

Journo mentions 7 tries in 5 rounds and asks is missing a bit of polish, OB asks, are you talking about attack.. GOLD!

1:45 - Played the missing personnel card.

Loved Friz, even with the short turnaround we prepared well....seconds after his mannequin coach next to him just used that as an excuse.

Yes, I must admit, that was a bit contradictory.
Personally, it appears like a bit of everything is going wrong with the club, it almost feels like a sickness from top to bottom.
At the moment I can’t see the Knights anywhere near the 8 this year with all things being even.
We are definitely in shudder territory.

Truly, people seem to misunderstanding the impact that Ponga has.

The only ****ing reason we went on that run in 23' was because Ponga is wildly talented. Should he have been ANY other fullback - we dont make the finals. We look average, AOB is sacked.

We've totally wasted Ponga's career. Utterly dusted it. A disgrace. This club is a disgrace. Keeping this mediocre coach in place for record time speaks volumes about how this club functions administratively and how those attitudes and goals manifest as outcomes on the field.

It's hard to find anything good about how the team plays. Players basically standing still when they get the ball, no one running lines, the team plays very flat which leads to the inevitable hospital pass. The inability to catch bombs on our own line and the non contest of bombs on the opposition line, it really does come down to some very basic flaws in the way the team is coached.

I’ve heard this a lot, especially in the media, but I completely disagree.

The whole team really started clicking when we went on that run. It wasn’t just Ponga. The side beaming with confidence though and playing on the front foot allowed him to play his best football no doubt which helped the side, but he absolutely didn’t bring on that run alone.

As for “wasting his career” to be honest I’m finding it harder and harder to feel the sympathy for him I once did. He’s the highest paid player in the comp and not even trying.

If Wests care about this club then surely he gets sacked.....has anybody looked at our draw? I honestly don't see us winning any games.

The draw has been a ****ing **** in. For any half competitive team we win most of those games.

There are no conditions under which we can win as we currently play. There are no ****ing conditions.

This is a failed team.

We MUST explore alternatives and do it early.

The draw hasn’t actually been that easy as it turns out.

We’ve played 1st away, 3rd away, 6th at home, 10th at home, 12th home and away, 13th away. Average ladder position 8th. So… it’s about an average draw.

It was an “easy draw” to start because - no Melbourne, no Penrith, no Roosters, no Broncos. Turns out we probably would have preferred Penrith/Roosters to a couple of teams we’ve played. We’re 2-5 and would probably be happy with 4-3 rather than with 5-2 or 6-1. Proof if it was needed that pre season draw strength predictions mean nothing.

Yep we were 2-5 then won 4 in a row. Feels unlikely this time.

My gut feeling is that they won’t even consider making a change until the end of the year,

They'll give him next year with Brown, if that season is another ****-show he'll be under pressure.

The 10 game streak we had Hastings and Gamble together for most of it until injury

And Clune when Hastings was out. Clune would be easily the best 7 at the club currently, by miles, but some genius punted him for cogger. On the basis of half a good season in the best rugby league system possibly ever and a completely mediocre career outside that.

Yeah obviously he is but something needs to change, if they won't change the coach then they should probably just let KP leave and focus on trying to strengthen other areas of the team.

It would mean we give up any chance of a premiership anytime soon, but I think we are miles away from that anyway.

I look at it this way. Either AOB needs to go or KP should go for his own good. AOB has had 5 years to try and figure out how to use KP. He still has no idea.
KP obviously not consulted or sold on the Brown vision? Doesn't look any other player is either 😂. Brown gone from being the final piece of the puzzle, to the first piece . Hang on for the ride !

The 10 game streak we had Hastings and Gamble together for most of it until injury. They scored the most tries in the comp that season.

Since then, those 2 have had what, 2 games together? We got Cogger over the off season and AOB wanted to find a place for his new toy.

Hastings injury at the end of 2023 is a lot more significant than what is said. He just never really recovered from it. He and Gamble were given the start of last season but by then Hastings was cooked. Gamble being out injured for most of the year just compounded it.
