I was looking forward to having Ryles here, Oh well.
Co-captains Jason Ryles and Ben Hornby have agreed to terms with St George Illawarra for a further three NRL seasons, until the end of 2010.
Prop Ryles, 28, had previously been linked with a move to Newcastle or an English Super League club while fullback Hornby, 27, was always expected to stay with the competition's last-placed club.
"I'm very pleased to have my contract sorted and excited to be staying with the Dragons," said Ryles in a club statement.
"Contract negotiations are always complex and it has taken a bit longer than I would have liked but I am very pleased with the outcome.
"Although we might seem to be doing it a bit tough at the moment, I'm very confident in what the future will be like here at the Dragons."
Hornby said: "I have always wanted to be a one club player and am excited to finally know that I will be staying here at the Dragons for at least the next three years."
"Our club has great direction and a great culture. It is something of which I very much want to remain a part."
