Why would we rest anyone without an injury they've played 4 games after a 10 week break and only 2 games from the preseason ..Why would anyone need to be rested , I would much rather play our best team every week and make sure of the points and anyone that needs to be rested should be dropped and replaced . They've played hardly any football yet and as a team will only get better .

You have to remember there is no lower grades so you have a bunch of players on the edge of first grade that are losing match fitness and match sharpness.

As OB has said you have to give those players a run to keep them in touch and also reward them for their efforts in training.
 
Although I think OBrien will have them up for it I hope we don't relax that bit this week .. Anyone can hurt you, but so far I think we have given 100% effort each game .
We've made some mistakes which have cost us but the effort was still there .

Yeah I understand that and funny enough I agree with it , BUT on the other hand I don't want us taking the foot off the pedal just yet in any way shape or form .
We have a top 4 team with the 19 players with Barnett and Watson in there ( if its not broke don't try to fix it lol) Maybe if we win a few more straight then we can afford to give them a run but while were on a roll id rather not .
Top 4 makes it a bit easier at the end of the season but I can see the wisdom in it too .
 
Maybe rest players at the end of season when the draw gets easier, need a good convincing win because the next 3 weeks after Manly,Eels,Rabits.
 
Why are people obsessed with resting when it's the shortest season ever with no rep footy. All it would do is dull a players edge.

Good article on Mann at 5/8.
I don't think any of us were onboard with this from round one, but clearly the coach knew what he was doing.
I just find it funny that he is playing the exact same role now as we had him playing as a 17 year old in our under 18s.

We have been a bit lucky that he has been able to get the job done with Connor Watson being injured when in the past it hasn’t been the case. But the quotes say it all, he’s been given a simple job to do that works to his strengths and that’s it.

Gonna be some tough choices to make when everyone is healthy.
 
Mann is in zero danger. Watson when he comes back will be in the 14. And provided Brailey recovers Mccullogh will be back in Brisbane.
 
If Obi keeps rotating as he has done so far, Hoy and Randall along with others should get plenty of opportunities as the season goes on.
 
The real argument, and the one put forward by the coach, is not "resting" blokes, it's keeping the depth players fit when there is no other footy being played.

Josh King isn't going to get a run for the hell of it, but Saulo might because one or two injuries and he's in the side anyway. And if that's during the finals you don't want him coming in cold.
 
Most teams use 30+ players over a season because of injuries and form.
We have only used 23 so far, and that includes recruiting McCullough to replace Brailey.
We will use guys like Saulo, Jones, Moga, King, maybe Crossland or Lino, Randall, and perhaps even Momoisea, or God forbid, TRD.
We have keep those guys fit and ready.
I really hope that we will be able to arrange with other sides after restrictions are eased a bit more for at least trial games where our reserves get a run against their reserves.
I'm sure something is being worked out.
