Is it just me, or does Paterson look too big? He's not as mobile as he was a few years ago.

Agreed, to me whenever i see him I always see him being pushed back in the tackle, Junior Sau's hit-ups gain us more metres & have more effect! He has to be up there as one of the biggest players in the league but doesnt use his size to his true potential & smash through the line. He needs to become more aggressive, hes too damn nice :lol:

Shillington escapes censure from NRL

AAP Mon, Apr 25, 2011 - 12:57 PM

Canberra's representative prop David Shillington has escaped censure from the NRL after being put on report for alleged tripping.
The match review committee said on Monday no charges had been laid from round seven matches played so far.
Shillington was put on report after appearing to thrust out his leg as the Raiders tried desperately to stop Newcastle winger Akila Uate scoring one of his two tries in the Knights' 22-12 win at Canberra Stadium on Sunday
What a joke!

Your only allowed to trip when you have hands on the opposition player. So in essence, tripping is only allowed to help wrestle a player to the ground, but it is illegal to do it when the player is running.

It is not in the spirit of the game.

What situation though? I see no problem in using a leg while trying to get the player to the ground, its not classed as 'dangerous'. Its only dangerous/bad sport when you through out the leg to a player running through a hole because he wrong foots you, hence why you get penalised/reported.

Im not a fan of guys not being suspended for showing intent to do foul play. If Shillington brings Uate down he gets 1-2 weeks no question, just because it didnt come off, doesnt mean it shouldnt be punished. Same with Slaters repeated cheap shots on Hayne last year. It he connects and causes injury he is ousted for 6weeks+, but because he misses he has no case to answer.

They're not swinging their leg at the player, they are putting it infront, so what's the difference between tripping and ankle tapping

Patto just doesnt use his size to his advantage. Hes shown glimpses of potential but theres still a long way to go for him. And I'd imagine hes on a fair bit given the Doggies were after him and we had to match their offer?

Is it just me, or does Paterson look too big? He's not as mobile as he was a few years ago.

I've been a huge Pato fan, but the guy has lost his mojo. He has huge potential but ever since he's had his off field problems and is on a fair amount of coin, he isn't producing all too often.

He burst onto the scene as our own SBW, but is taking a step ahead and then two steps back.

Get those guys on the forum!

So you're saying theres a difference between the 2, other then the fact one is with legs and one is with hands?

Legs = Bad
Hands = Good
Might I add getting ankle tapped hurts like hell especially when your playing on a cricket pitch. :doubt:

Noticed our forwards stats meterage were a lot better this week. Ritchie seems to have benefitted from it, he should start more often heh.

:D
I think you underestimate Tongue, if he plays, we're doomed.

As for Mullen, he had a pretty good kicking game last year aswell, and we still got dominated, in the 2nd half, he put in some great kicks, not nearly as good as he has been, but still pretty good
