Round 6 - Knights vs Tigers @ Hunter Stadium

Yep, in a team that was down to 15 after 30 minutes!!
You would think a prop with over 100 games would have extra time? not less.
Good back up guy, like Fa' Alogo.

I asked what was the go with paea only playing small minutes. I reckon he injured a leg.

Sims hopes for 'squeaky clean' return

Returning Newcastle Knights co-captain Tariq Sims is hoping to keep his discipline in check ahead of his first game of the 2016 Telstra Premiership against the Wests Tigers on Sunday.

Sims has been named in the back row in place of Jacob Saifiti who shifts back to an extended bench that includes the likes of twin brother Daniel and veteran Mickey Paea.

Sims' delayed season start is his second in as many seasons at the Knights.

A shoulder charge on Penrith's James Segeyaro in the final round of last season resulted in a five-game suspension and the 26-year-old is out to ensure he doesn't make "silly decisions" under fatigue.

Sims' return will also prove a huge boost for the Knights who have only managed a lone draw in their first five games of the year.

"I have to make sure I am as squeaky clean as I can be and make sure I'm doing a job for the team because if I'm sitting on the sideline I'm letting not only the club down but my teammates," Sims said.

"We haven't strung together a complete 80-minute performance yet. We have built on where we have come from but we need to put games to bed and compete for the entire game."

Newcastle's Auckland Nines campaign in February is the only taste of football Sims has had in 2016.

Otherwise, his off-season officially finished on Monday, and he is champing at the bit to add to his 19 games as a Knight.

"I have had big conditioning sessions where I would do mostly defensive work, because that's when I'm at my worst fatigue," Sims said.

"During fatigue, that's when we make silly decisions. If I can stay on top of that I'll move forward. I'm excited to put those days behind me."

Losing won't be accepted by Sims either this weekend.

"I don't like losing; it's something that doesn't really sit right with me.

"As long as the boys are all keen and ready to rip in I'll do all I physically and possibly can for the boys," Sims said.

"I'm going to bring as much controlled aggression as I can to the Tigers. I'm going to try and lead the boys attitude-wise."

Tariq and all his 'we's. If he kept his shoulder and aggression in check, may well have been true but he is a real let down six weeks suspension last year when he started and another six weeks to end last year and start this year. Gotta do a lot better than 'hope' Tariq. Real 'foreman' material I must say.

Regardless who plays lock, and I think Bhama is our future, he needs to play 80 minutes with less interchanges.

Cappie your 'old man' is a pretty fair judge, but from memory when Wes left, Kevvie was always going with him and keep an eye on big brother.

Wondering whether Tariq is Browns preferred option as captain, but had to come up with an interim plan for the first 5 weeks!

Good on Kev. When pub poker was booming used to play with him all the time on St George scene, real top bloke.

Yeah it's great to see him establish himself. When he went to Penrith they had plenty of options & he barely got a run. I feared that may be the end of him but he was given a chance at the Tigers & will now play NRL for a long time.

More like there is no one else.

Seems like a long long time ago we had Aku/Gagai/BJ/McManus in the outside backs.

Feeney at centre? Wow they really want him in the side somewhere hey
I've never been a massive fan of what I've seen from Feeney as either a half or a fullback, but he is clearly an outstanding athlete with speed and size and skills, and he is also a smart guy with a great attitude.

He did have a great finals series in NSW cup last year playing in the 7, but he really didn't do much as a playmaker - just scored some great tries from some brilliant individual runs.

If I were Brown, i'd try to find a way to use his talents - and maybe the 3/4 line is a place he could shine right now, while still working on his fullback skills.

Man Sione looked so good against my the Raiders really need him to play. Especially because he is in my SuperCoach!

What? You talked him up as a fullback option all off season.

What? You talked him up as a fullback option all off season.
If by talking up, you mean I repeatedly said we have no idea how he would go under a high ball or in defence - maybe in your tiny mind, with your particular skill at selective reading, maybe that is talking up.
I doubt I can dumb it down enough for you, but let me again explain that he has a lot of potential and giving him a shot at fullback is definitely worth it. I'd like for him to have most of the season in NSW cup to try to learn the position, and he might go well.
Read that however you will - I know it will be far more interesting after you have put your halfwitted brand on it.

Im glad Browny has finally listened to me in regards to Feeney playing centre.
I was calling it all off season.
Cant wait to catch up with Browny and pass on some more of my knowledge.

Good idea mate but I don't think coaches visit schools, just the players.
