Saffy cleared of biting
April 02, 2008
ST GEORGE Illawarra forward Jarrod Saffy has been found not guilty of a biting allegation at the NRL judiciary and cleared to play against Cronulla at ANZ Stadium this weekend.
Saffy had been ordered to appear before the judiciary after Canberra halfback Todd Carney alleged he was bitten in the 32nd minute of last Saturday's clash in Canberra.
However, the panel heard that there was no video evidence which clearly showed a bite taking place during the tackle or photographic proof from the Raiders of the existence of a bite mark on Carney's right forearm.
After an hour long hearing, the panel of Don McKinnon, Royce Ayliffe and Darrell Williams took 20 minutes to find the Dragons forward not guilty.
