The fact is we just haven't been good enough this season. We showed signs of what we are capable of mid-season, but we weren't able to sustain top form consistently throughout the season. Better luck next year, the side will be all the better off having been so close to finals they can taste it, and I bet if they had their time over this season we'd probably see a few differing results. Onwards and upwards from here, top 6 next season is my prediction!

As for this week v Penrith, if we get on a roll early I can see us finishing with our heads held high, but if the Panthers start with any sort of intensity I think we will see a similar result to the Tigers game. Could go either way, but with the season done I'm not really too fussed on which way it does go, hopefully Woolf bloods a couple of fresh faces. It would be good to see guys like Moimoisea and Toa given a run, and maybe even Chris Randall.

So we lose an extra game, punt our coach midseason yet make the 8? Not a chance. We may make the 8 next year if our players consistently turn up each week. Hopefully they do that for the next coach.
 
Everybody has to be on same page, Coach, players, assistant coaches, reserve graders, u/20 etc with the aim being to get the 1sts to the 8 even top 4. Can’t make it if all aren’t trying and poor choices options are being made. It’s a whole club thing.

That's what was so frustrating to me though, is that the side showed so little desire to play finals football in the later part of the season and yet still only just missed out. After their win against the Broncos they were in the top 4 and had an incredibly easy run into the finals, they really didnt have to do much at all to squeeze into the 8, so it's kind of amazing how they were able to mess things up so badly.

I hope they finish top 8 next year, as you said, the signs are there but every new season seems to bring so much promise and end in disappointment :(

Those four games were the most dissapointing for me. The team just came out and expected to win without having a go.
Thought they were better then they were.
 
Whole season has been a disgrace, we've got an almost top 4 lineup, easiest draw & we couldn't make the 8. We even had top 4 sides when they were weak - Roosters without Cronk & Keary, Bunnies without Reynolds
 
Everyone hated the cut and paste sides by coaches like Hagan and Stone, but what we've seen this year is that moving players around the field every week destroys cohesion in the side.
Great coaches like Bellamy, Robinson and Bennett can move guys around, because they understand what players can actually deliver and have the communication skills to get players ready for the role they want them to play.

We have probably used the least amount of players in the season for about 10 years, but it was still chaos because someone got shifted every week, and many of them were shifted to positions they either can't play, or would need months in the position to get up to speed, and the next week they moved from hooker to fullback.
 
One of the problems we have is not enough quality players to cover for injuries etc causing several shifts rather than bring a player up directly into the position. Several positions fell into that category but not just for injury but also putting players in because of deemed versatile to cover. Our selection of 30 plus 6 did not have the versatility to cover all positions such as Centre and wing.
 
Similar team to last week with Mann at 14 and J.Saf at 18.
Toa And Momoisea in extended squad.

I'd give Toa and Momoisea a run before the preseason, the experience would be great for them.

He was in the team every week along with Dan until injury derailed his 2018. Then the horror start to 2019 put him way back in the pecking order. Who knows how he'd be going had those 2 occurrences not happened.
