Players who impressed in NYC today:
Peter Mata'utia (2):
Had some nice touches and looked dangerous at times with the ball in his hands. Was also safe out on that right wing.
Ryan Stig (6):
As always, Stig had another nice game today. Directed the team around the park well, and provided some spark in attack. Defended well, and also had a nice kicking game, passing game, and running game for the most part. He's got it all this kid, which is why he's one of my favourite juniors at the moment.
Joel Edwards (10):
Provided some decent go-forward today, though the thing that stood out to me the most was his huge work rate and great defence. For a big front-rower, he's got a great motor.
Callan Richardson (11):
Came off the bench today for whatever reason, though played well once again when he was on the field. Great defensively and had a huge work rate. Wasn't overly attacking on that right fringe in the backrow, though in all fairness, he didn't necessarily get great attacking ball either. Did have a couple of nice touches though.
Zane Tetavano (12):
Solid defensively again today I thought, and also didn't have a bad running game either. Needs better ball on that left fringe though, because this big man can cause some damage when he wants to.
Jason Schirnack (13):
Had a huge work rate and was top notch defensively once again today I thought. Real team player who'll do all the dirty work in the middle which is why he's another one of my favourite juniors at the moment.
Byron Fruean (14):
Started the game in the backrow in place of Richardson and eventually shifted to hooker. A real impact player who made an impact once again today. Aggressive defensively which was great to see and was real hard to bring down with the ball in his hands. Provided a nice spark at times.
Blake Gallen (17):
Hard worker in both defence and attack. Came off the bench today and did what he had to do at a very high level I thought. Pretty trust-worthy player who you know what you're going to get out of every week.
