I'm prepared to be bagged but I didn't think Starling was hopeless today. Yes he got dominated more often than not but there was a few times he went forward. Can't remember him doing much wrong either which in this team is a bonus.

Considering he hurt his knee I thought Fitz was very good, our whole pack played well Dan & Sione the standouts but Fitz, Starling and Yates all busted their guts out there today .....

He ripped in, got smashed a lot but at least kept getting up & having a run all day. Fitzgibbon finally justified a depth position, if we lose a starting second-rower he can do a job, he's not a bench player.

Does this mean u may just finally agree that it has always been a play to go to ground on the last inside the op 20m zone?
Had to ask lol
Not sure that i ever disagreed with that other than to say it was a rubbish tactic and that we need repeat sets not just to hand the ball over.

Woo Hoo ...Hope Dans all good , Haven't seen the game yet but sounds like Sione had a blinder so good on him ..Were already twice as good as we were last season lol. I have seen the highlights and they looked super keen .

It's because he kept getting dominated in the tackle. Outside of that he was alright.
He did on a couple of runs, but also had some good carries and set up the try for Pete. His defense was solid as well. Played the last 20 or so with a broken hand as well.

If Starling broke his hand, he seemed fine and in good spirits while he was grabbing a quiet drink at the Mary Ellen after the game with his family. No sign of any medical strapping etc

Fitzy has come into a fair deal of criticism here (surprise surprise) but he has really muscled up and his effort for 80 minutes, much with a heavily strapped knee, was more than solid apart from that little bobble as he nearly scored.

He and Stoney will make a great pair of backrowers over the next few seasons. Brock Lamb showed signs of maturity as he has had a real baptism of fire since joining the NRL ranks and Feeney, note Mrs Feeney, showed some fine improvement.

Feeney is coming along, and is better than Hodkinson has ever been.

I think he is a bit scared of contact though. Evidenced by diving for loose balls on the ground, the few times he did it yesterday, he kind of dived off the ball and tried to rake the ball in rather than diving directly on the ball. Thats going to result in a lot of knock on calls against him. I took this as he was avoiding the contact with the opposition player also diving for the ball.

Secondly, his attempted tackle on their winger right near our try line as the last defender. He goes for the ankles rather than hit them up high and try to take them over the side lines.

But he is better than Hodkinson.
