People we should've already been chasing subject to confirmation of the cap increase. Although, I'm unsure of the detail, but a significant portion of that increase is to be used to improve the minimum earn for top 30 players. How much of that increase is 'disposable' to us, who knows.

I find that ridiculous that teams are two months in to pre season training and then there is a game changing 26% rise in the cap. This is the worse game governance I think I have witnessed which directly impacts what clubs can do on the field. I know the rlpa has played hard ball but you just get that stuff sorted. Not begrudging the players who are the product. I feel the fairest way to split it now is to increase all existing contracts already done for next year, outside the minimum wages, by 26%.

The NRL as an organisation is embarrassing and the worst run in the world ..... Seriously two months into pre season and now the cap changes....you can't make this up

I find that a little short of the mark, would have thought $150,000 was closer to the mark. Big increase in development cap though which is good. All those guys will be on an average of 100 now.

Most of the players who are on a decent wicket have clauses in their contract entitling them to a near-proportionate rise in wage if the cap goes up. So in real terms it’s not the case that every club just got an extra $2.6 million to play with.

It becomes a damned if you do damned if you don't moment in regards to the minimum guys. They deserve it if they are willing to put in the effort but on the other hand your hindering the chance to get another top liner into the squad if they don't take the opportunity. Hopefully the "numbers" guys/gals are into it.

Although I get this feeling they are way behind the eight ball in this regard.

Agree the governance is terrible, surely they had some sort of idea a fair while ago. Waiting till now absolutely kills any chance of clubs topped out on players to negotiate or release a player. The rlpa is the "union". Just an idiot who thinks he can "change" things. Sure they have helped players in ways but I see more of a hinderance.

As for player rises, well they agreed to said contract so you now have to honour that regardless of salary cap rise. It gives clubs chances to try sort out junior development to help grade become better, identifying talent etc. To offer that "player" a little more to come here yada yada.

Croker suspended to open the season. If we don’t get Miller I’d say Gagai to fullback is the most likely option with either Hunt or Mapapalangi to come into the vacant centre spot. Gamble or Mann to fight it out for the 14 role.

We’re still clearly lacking in quality front row/second row and centre depth.

Mapapalangi and Lucas is up and coming and will only improve, Tuala has had a run at previous club and is good depth. How many first grade quality centres do we need

Haven't seen him in any of the most recent training photos but is Ben Talty still with us or has he moved on?

Really thought he would've been a good shout at a debut this season given our lack of prop depth.

He was still in the squad before Christmas.
He can't be seen in the latest after Christmas photos, but they only show about half the squad.

Yeah I'm hoping he's still amongst the group there somewhere, could see him becoming a bit of a late bloomer that could add to the side following his shift into prop.
