Trained at fullback since brown has taken over, has the 9s ,NSW cup trial and NRL trial to play there? Hopefully its enough
 
I don't agree that more experience = more deserving, Brown made it pretty clear that they had a clean slate when he got here. Whoever had the better pre-season & trials is probably the one who's going to be picked. Assuming they're the two he's picking from this is. For all we know Gagai or Sione might be his preference.
 
Hopefully in the trial Feeney gets tested a bit under the high-ball and handles it well. I would like to fast track him in if we think he's ready but at the same time we don't want a potential disaster by rushing him in early which could really put a dent in his development there.

Excited to see what he can make of it anyway.

With Hodko, Mullen, Lamb and Dureau working on their kicking games, all our fullbacks will be getting plenty of practice defusing kicks. Those are some of the best tactical kickers in the game.
It doesn't hurt that they will be getting coached by a Dally M and SOO fullback who was safe as houses under the high ball.
If Feeney and/or Mamo are up to the job, the coaching staff should know by now, because they should have already put them through every possible play.
 
Given Mullen has already gotten his dopey arse sent back to reserve grade who is going to be 5/8? I know Mullen was talking as though he'd be back round one but I didn't get the impression it was a sure thing from Brown said. He clearly doesn't suffer fools. What are we looking at? Feeney as 5/8? Anyone got any insight into what's been going on at training?
 
If it were up to me, and it isn't, I woud be looking at giving young Feeney a go at 5/8. He turns 22 this year and had played with the Queensland Under 20 outfit so it is time to step up if he is good enough and a young player would shine outside Trent Hodkinson.
 
The guy who was mentioned as playing in the firstgrade trial at 5/8 is Lamb if he is over his injury.
I don't think they are seriously looking at an 18 year old for round 1, but I think he is being given a taste of firstgrade to get him ready for the future.

In my opinion, Mamo can do the things he does playing from the wing and looking for the ball. He just pops up. I like Feeney's size, step and kicking game and he's proven he can mix it with men (not that Mamo has not). Aku needs to show enough hunger and form to deserve a spot. Chanel has him in defense and also currently in attack. Pauli Pauli has to come off the bench and Tapine would kill it running on the edge from the start.
 
The more I see Tapine's half hearted performances the more I'm glad we didn't get into a bidding war for him. Give his spot straight to Saifitis.

If Tapine goes to Canberra he'll sink without a trace.
Ricky will give him 1 or 2 chances to show a good attitude, and throw him on the scrapheap if he doesn't.
He's done that to a heap of talented kids over the years.

They started in 2014 at the end of the NYC season - we later learnt that he had legal issues from about that time - and went on till his legal issues were resolved really.
He hasn't looked that interested this weekend either.
