Recruitment And Retention Discussion

Not sure how lour budget is looking - but Connor Watson apparently off to PNG in 27 and looking for a “gap year”. Would fit in well at lock for us for 12 months I think. A few guys frizz etc getting old

He should have just stayed here. Suppose the main positive from his return to the roosters was he made SOO, but he could have done that in our jersey too.

I had a few laugh at the time when I suggested him for origin but always thought his utility value was perfect for NSW. The 6 man bench has hurt specialist 14 players now though.

It says a lot that the Roosters didn’t bother keeping him for that year as insurance for whenever Radley eventually gets concussed or serve a suspension

I thought the worry at him leaving was that he was mates (housemates?) with Ponga for a bit and maybe that’s why Foxsports kept flogging the dead horse about Ponga to the roosters baseless rumours

The media didn’t need an excuse for their dribble about Ponga leaving lol

Radley off contract in November. I cannot see him getting re-signed for anything like what he is on now (reportedly 750 ish k). Watson is much easier to move on.

They have a few young guys moving through to replace Watson and soon Victor imo

Watson was a terrible player for us till we cut his pay and gave him a one year contract.
He then started working on all his faults, found good form, and signed somewhere else.
Most of his time at the Knights was partying and taking money for nothing - till the gravy train left the station.
Plenty just took money and delivered bugger all. He wasn’t a 5/8 but the club offered him good money to play there initially, he definitely found his position later at back up 9, 13/14 but didn’t think he was that bad.

When he first got here and played those first few games at 5/8 he looked decent. Played a couple of great games at hooker but he has been massively overrated during his career.
