Recruitment And Retention Discussion

Durable hmm kinda. Missed lots of footy still. Also doesn't have the skill to pull Bradnams socks up currently. Just another tall winger to me. We don't kick to them anyway so what's the point 🤣
The only games he has missed was due to the ACL, yeah? To be clear I'd much prefer that we keep Bradman, just positing that if Bradman does go full mercenary, I reckon Bostock has shown he can play centre.

Cant see why we'd be after Bostock. Replacing Best with an expensive Origin back would defeat the purpose of deliberately letting Best go.

Understandable if we wanted to keep Best for good money and he left anyway. The signing would also close the door on a position for either of Hunt or Winter.

Couldn't be true. Unless POS thinks he can sign Bostock for $500k long term, maybe then?

If it’s just finances they’re worried about it’s hard to see Bostock being much cheaper than Best, if at all. Could only imagine it would mean O’Sullivan just genuinely rates Bostock higher and would be more willing to pay him as such.

There's chat the Eels are going to offer Bradman $1 million a season.

Bostock's obviously a really good player and I think left centre is actually his favoured position even though he can play anywhere 2-5. He'll likely never get a real chance there with Herbie in his way.

His value is what the player market says it is. Cop out answer but Leo wouldn't have got upwards of $800K every off-season, he just happened to be the only experienced rep prop available that year. On November 1, how many clubs will be looking for centres and wingers, and where is Jack in that pecking order? I lowkey think the offers for a lot of guys in that position will be depressed by 1. The Chiefs already having filled their outside back roster spots and 2. Everyone likely having forwards and spine players they will be more focused on keeping away from the Chiefs and 3. Arguable "best players in those positions" like Herbie, Bradman, Latrell and Coates testing their value on the open market at the same time.

Actually don't think it's outrageous to peg his value at $550-650K. I know he just played Origin but it was as a back up to a back up and while he's been a very good pro so far he's not been an unstoppable tearaway try scorer type. He has come a long way as a workhorse but he's only done it for one season so far.

I reckon Bradman is worth $1m when the new cap comes in, but I doubt we will go close to that number with two players already on 1.3m+ while still needing to pay Sharpe down the track

I think we will lose either Young or Best.

SEN stated in a show that since Best has played, he's averaged 16 games over 7 seasons. 23 season being the only season he's played over 20 games. I did a little research and KP has the same average over 9 years with the club. Admittedly KP has more of an effect on games/results and it's just the case, not every player is going to earn his true $$ value at one club.

If we manage to make it work that we can resign Braddy and Dom for 2-3 more seasons and in the end lose Hunt and Frizell over it, then I can live with it. Having those two on board whilst we try and blow the doors down on a premiership with this attack in next few seasons, with KP and Lucas also locked up would be immense. After that period the timing would be perfect for a Nonu/Gow to replace Dom and a Malachi/Baxter Best replacing Braddy.

With the Cap rising exponentially in 28, I'm generally unsure what we can offer players, however I am sure the club is relying on replacing top line players with top line juniors and that's in every position. I don't see the club making a play for a big name player for some time, the confidence is in the junior production to continue replacing from within.

Obviously the biggest resigning's coming up will be Sharpe, Hopwood and Manuleleua and neither of those can be risked losing over Best or Dom, in my opinion

Can't see a world where we hold onto Manuleleua. Unless we suddenly form a penchant for paying forwards $1m+ p.a.

Pretty sure Manuleleua comes off contract the year the new NZ team is expected to come into the comp?
