If the Knights are signing Niukore than I hope POS is going to try and get him here this year.

With the injuries to KP and Brown, if either Saifiti or Mooney were to go down in the next couple of weeks, you could probably put a line through us already.

We'd have to make room. Brodie Jones or Wil Sullivan seem like the guys that POS has already tried

I'm definitely biased here, but I think the young crop we have coming through is pretty handy as well.

Lucas, McEwen, ESL, Manuleleua, Cant et.al., are all pushing hard for selection. Niukore may be the perfect pick up to help bring those young guys along.

How I see it, If Brodie Jones is moved on and Niukore takes that roster spot our squad is instantly improved, and our chances of playing finals footy go up considerably. I don't mean any disrespect towards Brodie either, I'm talking from a pure "business" / tactical perspective.
 
I'm not really hyped on marata if I'm honest. Surely a better guy in cup or q cup ready to rip in. I'm not of the opinion you "need" an old head to shape younger guys. You just need to give the younger guys some game time to see if they are up too nrl. Just give Crouch, Hopwood, Manu, ESL all game time before anything.

I understand what you are saying but I don’t think anyone is actually hyped for Marata but many do see him as an upgrade over both Jones and Sullivan, Marata is a super tough guy that adds depth, can play as a lock, prop and second row whilst adding more metres than the two I mentioned.

I like the signing from a pure upgrading point of view as we do need more regardless of Crouch, Hopwood and so on

Sullivan looks to have already gone back to North QLD and possibly retired due to his head knocks. So if Nikoure is signed for this year after Wahs game then I dare say it'll be his position in the Top 30 that he'll take.

On current form I don't think the bench forwards deserve to be dropped and Hola played quite well in CUP on weekend with great foot work and pm's. But it being a 6 man bench He can probably find a role there. It's more a top 30 signing and it I think still backs the young props that are close to FG games like Hopwood and Elijah. Nikoure is possibly behind them currently, but when injuries hit i'll be glad to have him as an option.
 
I do think everyone is forgetting how good Niukore is when he's fully fit. Until this weekend he hasn't played cup since 2019 at parra and that's for good reason. Was a regular starter last year in a top 6 Wahs lineup, has experience for both New Zealand and Cook Islands. Can play 8-13 (excluding 9) at a drop of a hat and doesn't look out of place. Was a regular starter when they made the top 4 in 2023 and only played less than 20 games due to injury in 2024. Regular starter (at 13) at parramatta when they made the GF in 2022 as well...

He will be a regular for us, and I wouldn't be shocked if it's as a starter, that 12 and 13 jerseys are up for grabs as well as the 3rd forward on the bench. I bet he played Cup on the weekend due to returning from injury and probably because he's leaving for us... it makes sense, for the right price it will be exactly what we need

Instantly looks much better and an easy top 8 contender, I’d do the same thing.
 
Would give us some scope to mix and match who starts and what the rotations are based on opposition. Against some teams I think you maybe want to keep Croker out of the starting lineup. Niukore is an enforcer, sometimes you want that guy making the first tackles in the game against their play 1 prop, sometimes you'd want him matching up against their bench.
 
If we do sign Niukore, to me it makes are bench much stronger and more intimidating.

Sure we have a few good young guys coming through that we all have high hopes for but they have to earn their spot, not just be given it. Which im sure they will do. It’s just creating competition and depth, which is never a bad thing

google says he's signed for Central Charlestown and played Flegg for Cronulla last year and Warriors in 2024 and made several NZ age sides before that.
Just the sort of guy POS would give a trial to.
