He coached players like Jake Saifiti, Fitzgibbon, Luke Yates, Danny Levi, Jaelean Feeny etc to a grandfinal win in 2015.
He has also coached Mathews and Ball before.
He was in our junior system between 1999 and 2001, played centre from memory, and was one of our best.
I think he was poached by Parramatta and suffered leg injuries in Flegg and cup that ended his playing career, and has been coaching ever since.

Matt Landry is someone who we need at the top, who has the skills and knows the way to success, with the players we have and the Knights culture lived every day.
Doesn’t surprise me he has been successful given his track record and as a Knights person. Him and Steve Simpson get it, in spite of who is in the front office.
Looks like the “new” administration might finally be getting it. The previous administration has been on a long egotistical journey to nowhere for a couple of decades now.
At least a step in the right direction, at long, long last!

I’ve been overseas for 5 weeks and haven’t stayed up to date with anything other than our abysmal results. I’ve read today that were linked with Trey Mooney and Sandon Smith. Questions if someone can humor me with answers…….

1. What are the odds of us landing both or at least one?
2. What do we think of Smith? I’ve not seen much of him but when I have he’s seemed organized and solid.
3. Will he play half and could this shift Fletch to FB and set the wheels in motion for KP exit
4. Are both being lined up for 2026
5. Will that talking potato AoB be coaching them if they come in 26…..?

There was a good article in the Herald yesterday about potential comings and goings. They concluded we could lose up to 12 of the 2025 top 30, but only sign 7 or 8, with others like Hunt, ESL etc getting contract upgrades to top 30.
Hard to go through them all because guys like Cogger, Gamble, Annan etc are all still signed and some of the recruits are still not signed officially.

1. By all reports Mooney is happening, the only thing holding it up is the NRL ratifying Papalii’s 2026 salary as a fair contract. The reports have varied a lot re: Sandon and I think it’ll come down whether he wants a stronger guarantee of an NRL jersey with us or to compete for a halves jersey with the Cowboys.
2. I think he’s a good player and personally I think he’s played his best footy as a 14/bench hooker. I think he’s a little like Ben Hunt - wants to be a half, probably best at hooker.
3. It’s been explicitly stated we want him to play hooker, but I think it’d naive to say the fact he’s proven as a solid contributor in both halves jerseys isn’t part of the thinking in signing him.

Hull media now reporting we've signed Arthur. I've managed to catch the last few Knights games and he's not exactly covered himself in glory.

On a side note, we must've signed more Knights players than any other NRL team over the last few years. We've had Hoy, Clifford, Jed Cartwright, Pryce now Arthur

Please don't get my hopes up like this.
 
I got told a few weeks ago we'd agreed a 2 year deal with him, but his ideal scenario was to stay in the NRL. I'm guessing we gave him a deadline until the end of August.

I'm hoping he's one of those players who are too good for NSW Cup but not quite NRL standard yet. He should make a decent SL player if that's the case
 
Oh ffs I thought we were talking about Brad Arthur

Jake Arthur is horrendously bad. Anyone watch him against the Broncos? Up there with one of the worst performances from a half in a Knights jersey. It was genuinely that bad.

Not sure why but his talents dont translate to FG from Cup
 
Jake has talent but his decision making is problematic, going to Super League definitely seems like the right move for him.
