For the second straight week, players will back up from representative duties with Anthony Quinn and Kurt Gidley involved in Friday’s City / Country Origin at Dubbo.
Scans have confirmed Clint Newton has a fractured eye socket and will miss his Country debut and at least Round 10 for the Knights.
“That’s disappointing news for Clint, he’s worked extremely hard to get to where he is,†said Knights Coach, Michael Hagan.
Test stars Andrew Johns, Danny Buderus and Steve Simpson have been given time off to recharge for the Tigers clash but are all available. Interchange forward Todd Lowrie replaces Newton in the starting line up.
Premier League forward, Chris Bailey, brother of Sharks back rower, Phil Bailey moves into the First Grade Interchange.
“With Todd moving into the starting 13, Chris is the ideal replacement. He’s been solid all season in Premier League and I think he’ll hit the ground running this weekend. It’s a great opportunity for him,†said Hagan.
A win this weekend would see the Knights equal second on the NRL Premiership ladder. Head to head, the Knights and the Tigers have met nine times, the Knights winning on five occasions.
