Rating your club's halves combinations

The article mentions Bennett's ability to turn fullbacks into halves and it got me thinking...there was a lot of hype when he suggested Lockyer should move to 5/8 - was all the hype due to Lockyer's success at fullback and whether he would be able to emulate his success in the #6 or because that movement was unheard of back then? Can someone name an established fullback who made the move before Lockyer?
 
Did Daly move frome centre to 5/8 ?? Sounds like Smith is going to be doing to opposite too Mortimer but.
