The Newcastle Knights will add a touch of colour to their Round 7 NRL campaign at Olympic Park against the Melbourne Storm.
The boys are being encouraged to wear Rainbow Shoelaces in support of Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation, raising awareness for organ and tissue transplants in Australia, highlighting the importance of donors.
Zaidee Rose Alexander Turner aged 7 years and 22 days died suddenly as the result of a burst blood vessel in her brain on 2nd December 2004 at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
Zaidee was the only child under the age of 16 years who donated her Organs and Tissues in Victoria in 2004.
Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation are asking for your support as a way to increase awareness and the donation rate for Organ and Tissue transplants in Australia.
Zaidee's Rainbow Shoelaces will be available nationally in April 2006. It is hoped that Zaidee's Rainbow Shoelaces will become a national symbol for Organ and Tissue Awareness in memory of Zaidee and what she gave so others could live a better life – or just to live!
