James McMcManus has had foot surgery after an injury cut his 2014 season short.

He will be in limited training when training commences at the start of November and is expected to return to full training by December.

Akuila Uate had knee surgery at the end of the season.

He will commence limited training after Christmas and is expected to be back to full training by February.

For the first time in years Aku and James will have to fight for their jerseys.
The only two in the back 5 who have a mortgage on their spots at this stage are Gids and BJ.
Sione, Chanel, Pat, Mamo and even James Elias will all spend the off season trying to outshine the old guys.

The forwards are the same, with 5 or 6 young guys measuring up the jerseys of Smith, House and Faalogo to see how they fit.

It's a really good balanced team, hopefully if someone does have a bad patch of form stone will have the balls to give a youngster a go let the team fight so they can all get better.

If Stone wants a future in the NRL he'll have to grow a set of nads very quickly when it comes to making the tough decisions. Not in an offensive way but Stoney is perhaps better known as a soft touch so the moving on of Mason was a necessary way of marking his territory. I think with the hype surrounding Sione(and rightly so) a lot of us forget how good Uate and McMannus are. If both are 100% fit and in form it's the young blokes that will need to lift.

I love peoples assumption he was soft when he had a team that was in the top eight and competitive. Why break balls when your style is working and how do we know what his like after being Bennetts understudy when killed it as the nsw cup coach?

Soft my behind from all his opportunities he can coach and with a fair go this time he will go well.

This. The fact that Stone made the finals in 2011 with one of the worst forward packs in RL history is a testament to his coaching abilities.

Imagine what he could do now with a strong pack, centres who can pass & more capable playmakers. It really bodes well for this season. I cannot wait to see what he can do.

If we can FINALLY!!!! have a majority injury free season then I think we can go along way. That was a major factor when looking back on last season (Mullen in particular took 1/2 a season to come good)

I agree that stone has a much better team than he did, all we really need is for one of our bench/NSW cup props to really step up n we are in good stead.

Anyone else excited by how gun leilua is going, our backline should kill it with stones free flowing attaching mind

I gather this is a reply to my post. There's plenty around other than us Nevilles on a forum who have concerns that Stoney is seen more as one of the boys rather than the taskmaster. His decision to move Mason on will go a long way towards changing those thoughts. No mention of whether the bloke can or can't coach.

i cant remember the last time Knights where able to put a full strength team together for more then 2 games in a row.! We are always up there with the most used players in the NRL. Hopefully Injuries are kind this year!!!
