JUDGING by his Origin II heroics, NSW skipper Paul Gallen is capable of anything.
And, according to at least one ambitious Blues staffer, that includes an exhibition round with world champ Danny Green.
Ahead of the team's visit to watch Green spar in Marrickville this afternoon, there has been a quiet push for the superhuman Gallen to test his mettle in a three-minute tangle opposite the IBO cruiserweight belt-holder.Gallen laughed off the prospect yesterday, but his endurance and brutality during off-season ring sessions at Cronulla are legendary.
When contacted last night, Green said he had heard nothing of a surprise opponent for today's tune-up ahead of his July 20 bout against Antonio Tarver at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
"I know Gal loves his boxing, but I've heard nothing about us getting in the ring together," Green said.
"I'll go a few rounds with anyone, but it would have to be a bit of fun.
"I've done a bit of sparring with Fuifui (Moimoi) at Parramatta and he actually goes pretty good.
"Jarryd Hayne has also improved a lot since I first met the Eels boys."
Since being invited into camp last year, Green has become an unofficial 18th man for the Blues.
He joined the team for their final 48 hours before game one and was on hand for Ricky Stuart's emotional jersey presentation in Sydney.
After seeing the toll from their 18-8 win in the dressing room, Green was staggered by Gallen's toughness - particularly his ability to play with painfully swollen knuckles that boxers are well accustomed to.
"What Gal did in game two was phenomenal," Green said.
"I spoke to him after the game and his body was just so battered.
"He obviously leads by example and when he does talk, the boys listen."
