Brailey was part of the “Free up the cap” very early on in the 2025 season! Once POS came on he was part of the high paid gang that needed to go …. In order to pay for Brown. From what I have heard they got Arthur as the replacement plan and still were having Crossy as the 9/lock. That plan seemed to shift mid season when Arthur showed he wasn’t ready. Problem was they didn’t bother to develop anyone else in the hooker role. Brailey saw us out the whole season and to me we should have kept him here for another year rather than seek out others. Smith 9 sure but he’s a half and I hope we play the kid there - Graham? Kids injury prone - injured currently I hear? Brailey another year at a reduced rate if he stayed would have been good. Just my opinion.
 
Getting Harrison Graham on a development deal feels like another solution to the hooker stuff just falling in our lap tbh. Arthur didn't look ready for the physicality and may need to keep trying to play 80 in NSW Cup for his development. Harrison Graham is older and has 5 NRL starts in which he's done about 40-55 minutes. More physically ready. I don't think he's this amazing player but if you think Crossland starting at 9 and moving to lock is best for the team, maybe Graham is the one who does a job at 9? No idea why he's left - there are decent wraps on him - outside of just that opportunities are limited at Redcliffe behind JMK, and then on top of that they have versatile utilities like Plath and Donoghue who offer cover at 9 and can play in the middle forward rotation. Graham is an out and out specialist 9.

Graham injury prone? and you're talking about re-signing Brailey?? why waste two spots in our 36 player squad on injury prone players then. I honestly think his injuries had a lot to do with why he wasn't re-signed, I think people are forgetting he's only averaged 14 games a year since signing and been taking home a big wicket. Wasn't worth keeping IMO
 
Just re the whole Sandon Smith dilemma - nice one to have.

I am sure we all agree that Holbrook will decide who plays where right?

I am not counting on anything until round 1 and I am sure he'll move the jigsaw pieces around plenty of times.
 
Of course it’s down to the head coach. If he arrives and POS/Blake tell him “gee we really had our heart set on Brown 7 Sharpe 6”, and he doesn’t agree, he’d say “oh yeah? That’s nice” and just pick who he feels like.

Either way we probably should have seen the pursuit of Sandon by the club coming the moment he got permission to negotiate given he pushed the Roosters to sign Keary on decent coin when his stock was at an all time low, his last big signing at the Wahs was Luke Metcalf, he paid a decent amount to bring Kodi Nikorima to the Dolphins… differences between them, but they’reall pacy running halves/utilities who’ve also filled in at 9 off the bench and/or at fullback. Definitely an archetype he fancies. Pretty fair track record of them panning out, too.

Metcalf is a gun, and Kodi does a solid job.
 
I’m trying to remember Holbrooks games with us. Pretty sure it was a year where when Joey was in we did ok but whenever he was out we got absolutely destroyed?

I guess that settles it then, Smith and Brown are the halves pairing, so where does that leave Sharpe? Wing?
 
I was actually thinking the other day that maybe Sandon signed because he knew Holbrook was coming and wanted to play him in the halves.
I don't think it matters who wears the 6 or 7.
But Dylbro did say before his last game that 6 is his number.

In other news, Pezet has now embarrassed himself cucking via the media for a loan-to-buy deal... As of yet, there is zero interest.

If im Ricky Stuart I'm doing anything and everything to bring him to Canberra. That's one signing that would immediately take them to a higher level
 
To a lot of people, Jake Clifford was going to be the thing we needed... I want to get hyped for Sandon and I am excited to see what he can do but I've had my heart broken before 😅

Different coach now though mate, one that actually uses the footy.
I’m not saying he’s going to be perfect, but I’m optimistic we will improve greatly in the points for department 🤞🏻
