Official: Trent Hodkinson signs with the Sharks

“We understand Trent’s decision to leave the Club and we wish him and wife Chantelle all the best for the future.”

Finding yourself as the 5th choice half at the club with maybe one contract left before retirement is a fair enough reason to leave early.

Hope Trent gets to go out on his own terms playing first grade rather than languishing as a backup.

Good luck fella!

He'll need Flanagan to make the call of Moylan to fullback. Still weeks until the season starts, he really should have waited for Manly, would have been better off gametime wise & I imagine financially too. Manly is in trouble though, maybe they were going to end up not actually being able to sign him.

Don’t know about Mitchell. He’s only 20 and has already shown plenty of laziness and complacency. He had a sh*t attitude when he was here a few years ago and not a lot has changed by the looks of it.

Latrell whilst a talent hates the place, he'll never be back.

People are right about his laziness, he reeks of a future Waratah TBH.

We need to start front loading contracts now rather than hitting the market. We have the squad now, Latrell Mitchell is lazy and would be terrible for the club culture. You would really be hard pressed to find better players in each of the positions out of a realistic player signing. No need to sign for the sake of signing someone, front load the contracts and be content with what we have

I'm also passing for Latrell, strikes me as a freakish talent that does the bare minimum training wise etc and just lives off his skillz.

Much like Owen Craigie.

Love Latrell as a talent, but there’s a lot of risk with that kid IMO. With the money he’ll likely be demanding, I think the risk is too high for me. He’s boom or bust.

Dont disagree lads. But the other side to that narrative is that he wins games, week on week. And he'll probably win them a premiership this year or next, too

If there is something other than results that count, please inbox me asap. I need to hear about this immediately

! didn't see it, my mother text me telling me he was on there saying when he knew he wasn't wanted at the Knights.

Was it bad?

He trialled and they told him he was lazy and not required.

When was the last time a Knight scored a try like that? Elliott had one or two long range ones but he had no one in front of him and just pinned the ears back.

I saw Alex McKinnon trial for under 18s and we let him go too. I think he had already played a year at Saints and would have wanted decent money to switch.

Lmao what a joke of a club we've supported the last long, long while. Who was in charge of talent scouting at trials when Latrell Mitchell was shown the door? Its honestly depressing. At 17 he was playing NYC at the at Roosters and was untouchable

If you're the guy searching for talent, you've got one job -- do not fail to miss the once in a generation player that by sheer fluke has spawned in your catchment area. Its understandable to miss the prop who realizes their potential at 22. But to overlook the 16 year old who would be FG level talent inside of 12 months. Is an absolute failure of your job

Did I read it correctly.
Cronulla are paying $135k towards Hodkinson's 2018 salary???

Yep.
Did you read Hodko was paid 70% of his wage for this yr last season.
The knights front loaded everyone last yr to clear space going forward.
10yrs of tough times as a knights supporter and club will be worth it in the next 5yrs moving forward.
Tough luck for dogs fans, they are going to be the next whipping team.

If Roosters win the premiership, it won’t be because of him, he’ll just be a piece of the puzzle.

He’s a great talent, a natural athlete, and an absolute freak with the ball.. but that’s when he’s switched on. He’s inconsistent and comes in and out of games. He also needs work defensively. He started last year terribly which is why he got dropped. Someone with that amount of talent should never be dropped due to performance. To be fair, he’s still very young.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have him, but at the money he’d be demanding? I don’t know. I really question his attitude, how trustworthy he is, and what he would do to the culture. I’m pulling for the kid. If he gets it all together, he’s a Kangaroo.

Yeah, rate Latrell as a talent for sure. But he doesn't have a great opinion of us, rightly or wrongly, and we're hopefully beyond being a complete prostitute as a club. Doubt he fits in to what Browny is doing. If that were to change, moving forward, we'd have to chat you would think.
