That bench doesn't work. One middle 3 player, and he's a rookie who wouldn't be good for more than 30 or 40 minutes.

I assume Bhana or Levi will miss out for Snowy.

Must have kept Fitzgibbon in 16 from Sunday I think.

Wow finally we have a coach with some backbone re: Snowden. The bench is a bit worrying though. Hopefully Fitzgibbon will drop off for Paea or Stockwell and I'd bring Sione in on the wing for Rossy.

Only way that works is if Rochow plays prop at some point. You could probably get 50-60mins out of Korbs and 40 each out of Mataora and D.Safiti so perhaps Rochow will play prop for 20-30mins since he has played their before, might not be a bad idea either could catch some of Souths bigger guys out around the ruck towards the end of each half.

I think it's a smarter rotation to be honest.
Randall having to play 80 minutes and make all those tackles left him struggling in attack so a fresh Levi for the last 20 minutes will cause trouble, and he only has to defend when the big forwards are already tired.
Snowden/Saifiti to rotate with the starting props.
Bhana to spell Smith like on Sunday.

Not really Knights related but Kerrod Holland has been named to make his debut for the Bulldogs this Thurdsay. Hope he goes well.

I notice both Paea and Stockwell are listed as "tests" in the fitness report, so they both could pass a fitness test and be late inclusions I think.

I doubt they run both Bhana and Levi. Surely one of Snowden, Stockwell or Paea will jump on the bench

Bhana is a specialist lock anyway. If you have 2 front rowers on the bench with him and just swap him with Jeremy Smith for 30 minutes it'll be fine.

Brown has shown faith in his rookies by naming them, but if Paea and Stockwell are good to go they must replace Bhana and one of the Saifiti's.

Knights coach Nathan Brown wants fans to back club’s youth policy

NEWCASTLE coach Nathan Brown has called on fans to support the club’s youth policy, warning there is no quick fix and declaring “this is where the club is at”.

Brown blooded five rookies in his side’s opening round loss to wooden spoon favourites Gold Coast and is sticking by all of them for Saturday’s clash against South Sydney.

“There is no need for us to go chopping and changing teams,” he said.

“There are no quick fix methods. Not unless someone wants to throw a couple of million dollars in our bank account.”

Brown says his young squad needs time to develop but claimed they would not fear taking on the Bunnies.

“I know there is going to be people out there who are going to whinge and complain about us, saying you’ve got all these rookies in there,” he said.

“This is where we are at and this is where the club’s at and this is the path we are going to go down.

“It’s not going to happen overnight.

“They need to support the young kids and over the journey, the young kids we keep picking over the period of time, some will unfold and be very good first graders and one or two may not.

“But until they get to play successive games and get to watch their game and work on their game, we won’t know.

But I’m comfortable with all the young kids playing.

The Knights have lost winger Chanel Mata’utia for up to seven weeks with a grade three medial tear in his knee and decided against challenging a grade one dangerous tackle charge levelled at interchange prop Pauli Pauli that will see him miss the Souths game.

“We had a look at the incident. It was one of those ones that was probably 50/50,” Brown said.

“We deemed it best to take the early plea and move on.

It’s a short week so we’d rather focus on what we have to do for South Sydney.”

The Knights haven’t beaten Souths since 2011 and have copped some hidings at their hands in recent seasons.

But Brown says his side won’t go into the game with any fear of playing them.

“The key for us is to improve and to get our effort levels to last for longer this week and for the younger kids to understand what the process of winning a game is all about,” he said.

“As long as they keep getting better from week to week, that is the key for us.

“They will be hard to beat as all the teams are but I don’t think we should have any fear.”

I dunno why you guys support Snowdon. He is useless. Easily the worst forward the knight have. Sorry guys but i just don't see nothing special at all.

I'm super impressed the Knights have a coach that doesn't tolerate this mediocre attitude. Snowden is our best prop but play like that and you are gonna get dropped. Brilliant. No more players running this team.
