Official: Joe Wardle released by the Knights

Wouldn't mind going after a fringe winger with a bit of speed. We have quite a bit of size and power on our edges next year but not a lot of pace imo
Meaney is a lot faster than people think. He is one of those long legged guys who doesn't look to be going fast, but is.

Ross, meaney, hopefully Elliot, but yeah a flyer would be handy to call on.

Meaney is supposedly the quickest over 40m and 100m at the club atm, but i havent really seen him in the open burning people as yet.

Also SKD is very quick over 100m... low 11sec by memory

No more midgets, if we can only want to see big bodies in the backline, seriously how often do you actually see runaway tries in 2017?

Gideon Gela-Mosby still hasn't been re-signed by the Cowboys if all you're looking for is speed. He's been really struggling in QCup though.

He got absolutely blown away by that Storm halfback in the nines. Brody Croft I think.

Every time Elliott gets in the clear no one catches him.

Normally speed comes with power but not in Elliot's case. He's improved a lot since last year but is still weak af.

Farewell Joe Wardle

Wed 20th September, 02:46PM

The Club farewells Englishman Joe Wardle, who joined the nib Newcastle Knights at the beginning of the 2017 season.

Able to slot in either at second row or centre, the 25-year-old arrived having already played under coach Nathan Brown several years ago in the English Super league.

Wardle made his NRL debut in Round 4 against the Penrith Panthers and went on to record 17 NRL appearances and four tries for the 2017 season.

In August it was announced he would be granted a release due to personal reasons and return home with his family to play for the Castleford Tigers at season's end.

Wardle was also a representative for Scotland between 2010 and 2014 and has been named in the Scottish squad for this year’s World Cup.
