Official: Jamie Buhrer signs a 2 yr deal with the Knights

Good signing. He runs great lines and has good foot work plus tackles hard if he can play a similar role to that played by guys like Pedan and Hilder in the past than it will be money well spent. His work ethic will also be a great influence on the younger players. Signings like this are the perfect way to rebuild our squad.
 
Great signing. Rated very highly by Manly fans, who might I add are all blowing up about the club releasing him. We definitely got the better deal. Keen to see him in the red and blue next year and I hope he proves the doubters and people who don't watch him closely wrong.
 
Kostjasyn and now Buhrer. Two experienced players we needed in our forwards. Looking for more off season signings for 2017 season and on.

We deffiently got the better end of the stick, the manly fans I've spoken to are furious with Barrett. But I do think uate will find some form at a new club

I agree !... And I won't feel bitter about uate if he dominates next year because it wouldn't of happened here if he stayed , good luck to him !... We need to focus on what buhrer brings to us now , hopefully he can stay fit and have a big year for us
 
Buhrer and Kostjasyn aren't exactly future rep stars.

The roster we start 2017 with doesn't really compare to the roster Brown had the day he signed.

He hasn't replaced Tariq, Snowden, McManus, Rochow, Stockwell, Smith, Uate, Tapine etc.

He has lost about 1000 games of firstgrade experience, and is so far replacing them with 2 or 300 games of fringe firstgrade experience.

This isn't all bad, because the plan is still to bring on guys like Dan Saifiti, Sione Mataútia, Brock Lamb and 20 other young guys for 2018 - but my opinion is we should be aiming for 3 or 4 really experienced guys who are top shelf players - not late 20s hacks like the two signings confirmed so far.

At this point, the only way 2017 will be better than 2016 is if all the guys aged between 19 and 23 improve out of sight - and that isn't out of the question.

He outlined his plan from day one. He told us he plans to use rookies and young guns this year to see who is ready and who needs to be replaced. Him and gidlwy also said he isnt just going to buy players just because we can. When the right players come along they will pounce. But theyre not willing to pay ovwrs for them which im 100% with
 
More importantly, why would an experienced top-shelf player set foot in Newcastle?
Can't even offer more money, with the way TPAs are at the moment the big clubs can spend 20-30% more than the Knights.

Personally, I think you're under selling Kosjaysyn and Buhrer. Both are established first graders from strong clubs, and both are said to be good clubmen. Their value as leaders can't be underestimated.

Another very good point. We dont exactly have a roster that would tempt any big name. And would need to pay 3x their worth.
These big signings will come but we may have to wait another season or 2

McGregor is under enormous pressure to keep his job, he is desperately looking for someone who can save him! He has paid massive overs for Vaughn in an act of sheer desperation! Vaughn may deliver but is a massive risk on that sort of coin?

I can confirm you that we will win more than one match next season. But I just hope they show good signs for the future, not just improvements with floggings every week.
 
All the young guys would have found this season a bit daunting being thrown in the deep end , but next season they will know what to expect and will be fitter and ready for it. I expect we will see quite different young players next season .
