Official Blues Side v QLD Game 1

Fantastic team selections.. lyon has problems containing Inglis so now that tahu is there he can get in his face early with big shots... then idris can come on and do the same thing..ennis will have a rest with kurt to hooker, hayne to fullback and tahu to wing..Idris will take over from tahu and continue putting shots on iglis..

Im sure there is arguments back and forth about backrowers selections but selecting gallen ahead of watmough and creagh would be crazy..luke lewis offers us exceptional flexibility as a utility and can now be included in the regular forward interchange..with jamal on the bench the only option was to play one front rower in white with larhs an option in the front or 2nd row.. that leaves a choice between waterhouse and gallen and to be honest they have made the correct choice going with the bigger man..

well balanced thought out side with excellent combinations at half/hooker and both centre/wing pairings..we have an excellent defencive and experienced squad with the x factor of idris meaning for the first time in the last few series qld will genuinely have to put a game plan in place to contain idris out wide and make sure nsw do not isolate one defender to contain him.. the flexibilty of the squad is outstanding and anyone who is knocking the selections without genuine arguments for players should realise they have selected a team that actually gives us a chance of beating the quality Qld outfit..cmon Blues!!!

So did I... but game 3 with these guys showed promise. TLL fired up is dynamic. Perry & Waterhouse will lift with everyone around them.

I know you always say head up moz with the Knights - the same should be with these guys.

TLL is a good player but he hasn't been up to snuff this season and Waterhouse is a quality player but has missed alot of football there are much more suitable players eg Gallen, Bird, Laffranchi or Lewis starting, Perry is utter rubbish and nothing will ever convince me otherwise he was rubbish here for 7 years had 1 solid year with Manly and has gone MIA once again.
Idris is a joke of a footballer,I'm sick of all these novelty players eg Wolfman getting picked despite their obvious deficiencies, Idris cannot defend (tackle or read a play) and has no pace if he gets a start now Tahu is hurt Inglis will ruin his career(which could be decent if he improves his D)
I'll support them no matter what but I don't like their chances.

TLL has potential to be one of the best forwards but we are not using him well enough infact we are not using any of our forwards because we dont have a quality half to control them around the paddock. He played well last year, Bellamy talks as if he knows how to use him so why not ?

Cross for Idris, then we have White and Cross, Weyman over 110kgs. =]
I would have put Barret in at 5/8th, his been pretty good.

Barret has been average at best all season. If bellamy was truely keen on combinations, he should have picked soward at 5/8th to link with creagh, cooper, morris.

There are better props/frontrower-secondrowers then Cross that should be there.

it's an ok team...I think Gallen deserved a place...not sure about Lyon at five-eighth...is he a viable option, I mean has he the passing and kicking game in case Noddy is being blotted out?

I heard on 9, that Barret and Finch on standby incase of injuries.

I assume if Tahu does get ruled out, then Lyon will go to Centre... and one of those two in at 5/8?

Lyon at 5/8th doesn't bother me to much because if he wasn't there he'd be at centre and Inglis would run all over him again. I still tihnk Idris is a waste of space, Lewis is mroe than capable of filling in in the centres if there was an injury and it leaves us very weak in the forwards.

Gallen is one of my favourite players and I can't believe they have left him out. If he was a Queenslander I am sure he would be picked for them, he gets angry and works harder than any other guy in that NSW side. Watmough is solid but prone to mistakes, far more than Gallen is.

Lewis can play 5/8th is need be too. Look at this... Game 1 last year.

1. Kurt Gidley (captain)
2. Jarryd Hayne
3. Jamie Lyon
4. Michael Jennings
5. James McManus
6. Terry Campese
7. Peter Wallace
8. Brent Kite
9. Robbie Farah
10. Luke Bailey

11. Ben Creagh
12. Luke O'Donnell
13.Paul Gallen

Interchange

14. Craig Wing
15. Justin Poore
16. Glenn Stewart

17. Michael Weyman

Watching the Game 1 team go around now on to now.

Gidley = Gidley
Hayne = Hayne
Cooper > Jennings (Defensively Cooper has been outstanding this year, but it's his attacking combination with Brett Morris that is something to be excited about)
Tahu = Lyon (Lyon still in the team)
Morris > McManus (Best finisher in the game)
Campese > Lyon (Campese would have been a better option here)
Kimmorley > Wallace
Perry > Kite
Ennis > Farah
Weyman > Bailey
Creagh = Creagh
Watmough = O'Donnell (Same style of play)
Waterhouse > Gallen (Hits a whole, more effective in attack)

Idris = Wing (No wing anymore to compare, Idris is a lottery)
Lewis > Stewart (Best lock in the game)
TLL > Poore
White = Weyman

Watching the game, we lost it what 24 - 16?

I think weve got the team to beat QLD.

Qld doesn't pick cats who lie down and feign injury...Gallen is as far away from a Qld-type player as you can get.

Shame you blokes didn't pick him though

Quick quiz...has the EVER been a player whose defense IMPROVED by playing rugby union???

Good luck T...you're gonna need plenty of it

Brad Thorne, came back a better defensive player after a stint with that NZ team, the "All Girls" Oh no wait that is a name of the QLD SOO team isn't it?:badgrin:
