NRLW Recruitment & Retention Thread

Love her but find the Shipton signing very odd now with Lahmert and Elers going so well in LF and HNCup respectively.

Would really really hate to lose either of them.

Lacey and Emily have had hugely impressive years, Emily is NRLW ready, she looks small but really pack a punch in D and runs.
Lacey is an edge forward but quite powerful, whereas Stella have pace and power but still maybe another season to build the strength required for NRLW. All very good players, women’s team is looking very strong.
 
Nakia Davis-Welsh did a long interview on "over the black dot" on NITV.
Interesting history - she has played more games for Australia and in the All Stars teams than games in the NRLW.
She says this is her last year and she is very happy in Newcastle.
Went to Hunter Sports High.
From Taree and says Lucy Spain is from Macksville, which is where her father coached and she learnt to play.

That’s good news. Can’t say I was very impressed initially, nor even with the last two years as a whole, but it seems a lot of that may not have been under his control.

Anyway, he seems to have done a fantastic job with the juniors and pathways and the team looks the best it ever has under him this year. The players all seem happy too, so I’m glad he’s staying for a while
 
Hugely impressed with the teams performance this year. Losing Yas will hurt them but I doubt we lose another game against other opposition. Roach is looking super impressive. I think a call needs to be made to put Charlie Lahmert on the bench. 20mins of her scooting out of dummy half and her service will be immense compared to Bo. Love Bo but that isn’t the call to make. Have faith in your juniors. Which Ben usually does.

If it means not having to see Bo on the field I’m all for it. Sadly she just isn’t up to it anymore
 
Lahmert is the find of the year in Tarsha Gale and reserve grade, and then they put unders 17s hooker Elers on for 10 minutes in reserve grade and she made Lahmert look pedestrian.
I don't know what we'll do with Shipton next year. Higgins has signed for next year and Lahmert will be as good as Shipton I think.

Yeah Livvy resigning was a surprise but she’s great this year. Her defence is better than ever. Shipton in the end is a signing we didn’t need to make, solid player but from what I’ve seen she isn’t near Lahmert or Elers.

I’ll be devastated if we lose either of those two.
 
Yeah I know some pine for the Uncle Ronnie days but the past is in the past, there's been a lot of turnover in the roster, it's very much Ben's team now, and he's still yet to have a worse finish than 3rd. Happy to see him get the extension.

The NRLW is different to the men’s though, where players outside top 24 cant play until like round 6 and then in not sure how players like Lahmert would go with playing after then anyway with how the cap works.
Bo and Joeli Morris are the ones who are weird top 24 signings when players like Charlie could easily fill that spot for 10 or so either side of halftime for Liv to have a breather

The Shipton signing really looks like something we need to get out of after this weekend.
Higgins is looking as good as ever.
Lahmert was an instant success in firstgrade - better than Shipton I think.
The reserve grade game was looking pretty close when Joeli Morris was at hooker today, but as soon as Elers came on for 40 or 50 minutes, we just went up 2 gears and won easily. Elers is also pretty tall and might end up a similar size and with similar skills to Higgins.
I'd be surprised if Higgins hasn't helped develop Elers in fact, because they do similar things IMO.

Anyway, Shipton is a good player, but I can't see us needing 4 hookers in a 24 player squad next year.
