Hey everyone, just letting you know what I observed today at the game.

Quite the eye opener to be honest, I am surprised that one thing In particular that I had seen doesn't get mentioned by any of the people on here that go to the home games.

I was 6 rows back from the field so It helped a lot but again It was quite a surprise.

First off, we were playing a reserve grade team and some of you mentioned It here and the observations were spot on.

Will happily take the win though.

My biggest surprise Is how the hell Jack Cogger Is In any first grade team period.

This was the first time I have seen him play In person and his line engagement (apart from two occasions IIRC) are non exisitent.

Watching him on TV does no justice to what I just said, you have to see him at the ground to understand that as soon as he gets within 2 meters of the defensive line he passes.

His engagment Is non existent and I was shocked at how bad It actually Is.

To all those (Including myself) we have to "maybe" take back what we said about AoB this past week or two as the person who made all the difference this game was Jacob Siafiti.

I at times want to put the guy In a rocket and fire him Into the sun, but these past weeks when he stated that having pretty much our entire starting pack out was Impacting how we play, he had a point all along and we were a bit harsh on him.

Second biggest surprise Is quite literally how little we communicate with each other on the field In defense and especially In attack.

That might sound stupid considering we put on 30 points but trust me, I stayed for the two games after and I could here all sides communicating down the other end of the field every play the ball compared to us.

Ours Is almost non exisitent, It was literally Cogger calling out a play once every set.

Whatever else I can remember from our game I will put In but that Is It

Usually the biggest talking point after every game is how bad Cogger is and how he can’t engage the line. I don’t think anyone thinks he should be in first grade.

Yeah cogger is not athletic at all so to make up for that he needs to be a really smart half , but some of the stuff he does you just scratch your head like throwing a forward pass to the decoy runner in elliot instead of ponga waiting for it.

You just made the argument that Souths were literally reserve grade and then followed it up with 'we owe AOB an apology'.

Wouldn't it be prudent to see if we can back it up over the next month before reneging on legitimate and necessary criticism of a failing coach. One competent game of football (with a full strength side) against a fully depleted Rabbitohs side isn't the means test Knights fans want to believe.

We're so desperate for a win of any kind we will lie to ourselves at a whim.

Murray won't be back this year, hence the best pack they'll put out this year. Personally, not even worrying about the Eels until we improve on yesterday against the titans.

I still dont see the hype in Thompson ,dont get me wrong he is good but not elite like the bulldogs are paying him elite money. The biggest issue with both J saf and D saf is consitency they are both elite on there good days.

Leo’s always been a run of the mill prop. Like someone else said, he’s very solid defensively, but is very average in terms of metres and impact. He made half the metres of JSaf yesterday who isn’t exactly considered a marquee player. He’s been really overrated by us simply not being used to having anything remotely nice in the forwards, and the money being thrown around for him. If he didn’t lead the haka for the kiwis I don’t think anyone would notice him. My preference definitely would have been to keep him, but that’s more to do with our lack of middle forward stocks rather than Leo’s individual value. The dury is still out whether he’ll be a bad loss for us. If we can somehow find a solid middle with first grade experience I don’t think we’ll miss him, but if we can’t and we’re left with inexperience we probably will.
 
Cogger really can’t catch break from wannabes who never made jersey flegg let alone NRL

Is Cogger a good halfback? No clearly but he has out done Gamble, Hastings, Crossland in doing the one thing AOB wants, not overplaying his hand and just pass it in good space.

That is all he has to do now Gamble and Hastings has shown they while they can do that, their mind wanders and they do something else, Cogger doesn’t have this attention problem.

He threw that bad pass to Elliot instead of the back where KP was waiting but that was the only bad thing he did, he put the ball in space, made sure the ball got to KP and the others and let them take over, in our game plan he executed it perfectly and even showed heart getting his try, I was not expecting a halfback to come charging into the middle and actually win.

He also bagged himself two line breaks and he defended well against grays speed plays which I was scared of the most before the game as I thought Jye would burn him on the out side

Again I’m not saying he is a great player by any means but a lot of people here struggle with giving credit where it’s due and Cogger deserves a pat on the back even if it was only his second ever good game for us since returning ironically I think his first good game for us was against the same team.

That’s highly debatable.

In the games that Cogger doesn’t play awfully (like yesterday) I still wouldn’t say he did anything particularly well. In every game I’ve watched Cogger in Knights colours, we appear to win in spite of him rather than because of him. AOB basically said in his presser yesterday he preferred Gamble but went with Cogger because Gamble was only just fit and he thought it was best to have the returning players improve the side rather than dropping people. If Gamble wasn’t consistently injured this year he’d be in the side, I’d hazard a guess if Hastings wasn’t on the nose he would be there over Cogger too. Both are much better players than Cogger. Crossland isn’t really a half.
 
I think the Knights game plan is designed so whatever the 7 does won’t really make a difference to the scoreline. They want the back 5 to get our go forward, forwards to control the ruck and Ponga and Sharpe to create off the back of controlling field position. Cogger has to kick at the end of the sets and make sure the ball goes to the right people. His hardly going to be the reason we win or lose any games across the year.

Sorry Les, you must have misinterpreted what I meant.

I mean't In this one Instance where he spoke of missing all depth In the forwards he was correct and not spewing the normal ******** he Is so adept at doing.

Seeing JSaf out there you could see Impact very early on.

I did say right from the get go we were playing a reserve grade and If I am being honest I do not think we win this game with a full strength Rabbitohs side.

We needed that game to build some confidence, albeit against an undermanned team. We clearly have been playing below par. I’m not complaining, take it where you can, we’ve been undermanned for most of the season.
