He reminds me a little of Jake Clifford in that some playmakers just dont have the aptitude for back to back ad lib plays. They fire a shot and need time to reload. Which isnt commentary on the quality of their decision making/execution. But once you realise they simply arent capable of maintaining the quality of decisions with an increase in the frequency of those decisions, it answers the question of why they dont do it. Because the player doesnt think they're capable of it, clearly.

Laziness couldn't possibly be the explanation.

In any event, if there was a single key attribute to play 1st receiver well, that'd be it imo, an aptitude for back to back high quality decisions on the fly.

Yeah I think it’s too simplistic when people call him lazy, when he’s a guy who will happily take hard runs in yardage, he’s great defensively, etc etc. Some guys just thrive in that role of playing off a more dominant halves partner. My suspicion is we’ve got ourselves a more robust Keary or Cody Walker - not players anyone would slander the way Brown gets slandered but who thrive, basically, playing off a guy who takes on a large % of the decision load. And we’ll need to ask him to play more like Katoa or DCE.

But I don’t know maybe there’s something in him we’re not seeing. I’ve kind of made peace with it at this point, if it works way better than we expect we’ve got some pretty elite talent coming together there, if it doesn’t we’ve finally solved the “is Kalyn a fullback or a five-eighth” dilemma by signing a guy who’s kind of like if Kalyn understood how to play 6 & we have an elite fullback talent ready to go when Kalyn asks out. I think the challenge of playing 6 will help make Fletcher a better fullback and we saw this year he had no issue going back there and playing well.

Our guys just tapped out when the pressure is applied.
Currently we are not a competitive NRL team, through injury, poor back up players, really low player confidence, and losing our best asset, decent defence.
Ring the bell please, I find it very hard to watch and the thought of them playing next week against the Eels fills me with dread.
This season, and particularly the last month of football has been really hard to watch.
And to top it off, we have been the worst team adapting to V’landys ball. We just don’t get it.
 
He’s not going to win any prizes for elocution, but I find Cronk’s input very valuable. Stuff like going over everything Cogger did wrong when he went for that chip to Marzhew which was easily read and generated a 7 tackle set was the kind of analysis I wish we had more of on the broadcast. His show with Matty Johns is the only Fox League program I can stomach watching. Unsurprisingly, the guy who turned himself into an elite 7 by studying the game and putting the most attention to detail into his training knows a thing or two about the little things that differentiate elite halfbacks from the other ones.

I need to do this. I also need to forget what I saw from him this season.

I do think he will be a sensational compliment for Ponga. We'll see a different type of Brown than we've seen at Para, under a totally different set up, hard to know how things will play out but Im confident we'll be very happy with at least some of it.

But I reckon if we're going into it expecting him to take a predominant role in the spine we're going to be super bitter about his performance after a while. I think the key to Brown is the right set up with the right coach who knows how to approach his role delicately

Yeah mate if we get a good run of games where they're both fit I'm sure there will be times where they look like they're worth every penny. Just also likely times where we want more out of our 7 than he's giving us.
 
We have possibly avoided the spoon, but in my mind we deserve to get it anyway.
It should always go to the team with the worst for/against in my opinion

I think we are around -30 points behind the Titans with one game to go, I don’t expect that to change much by the end of the season. And to me that means we are going worse than they are, so we deserve the spoon

They're also 1 win less on the board as it stands so unless they win this week and we lose, they most certainly deserve the spoon more

They play the West Tigers at home, there is every chance they beat them easily.

WT have nothing to play for, long trip for them, not much motivation to rise to the occasion, and it's on the gold coast with their season virtually finished. I'd be tipping a good win for the Titans.
