    NRL releases details of 2019 third-party agreements, Sydney Roosters rank 11th

    The NRL has revealed a drastic reduction in third-party payments (TPAs) made to players in 2019, with back-to-back premiers the Sydney Roosters listed in the bottom half of the 16 clubs.

    After a crackdown on TPAs in 2018, the total amount of legal payments made outside of the salary cap last season dropped from $7.8 to $6 million, the governing body claimed on Friday.

    TPAs fall under different categories including motor vehicles, contra deals and whole of game sponsorship.

    The fourth and most contentious strand of TPAs are called private sector arm’s length agreements.

    In a bid to increase transparency and lower scepticism among fans, the NRL has published a full breakdown of ‘arm’s length agreements paid in 2019.

    Minor premiers the Melbourne Storm received just under $810,000 to easily top the list, with the Brisbane Broncos coming in second place after unnamed players shared just under $350,000.

    The 14 other clubs all fell below the $250,000 mark, with the North Queensland Cowboys claiming the wooden spoon with $15,667 in total TPAs.

    Notably, Roosters players received just under $69,000 to rank 11th overall.

    It is understood superstars James Tedesco and Cooper Cronk received ‘whole of game’ TPAs, which were not disclosed by the NRL.

    However, fans of rival clubs have long raised their collective eyebrows at the Roosters and questioned how they continue to field star-studded rosters under the salary cap.

    But if the NRL’s official numbers are accurate, the fact that only five clubs received less in total ‘arm’s length TPAs’ appears to dispel conspiracy theories about the Bondi club.

Bet they are disclosed in the other "terms" of TPA which they don't have to publicly make available........
 
Player managers are terrible at their jobs if those figures are correct.
NRL players have massive profiles when compared to others who get big dollars.
If I were a player i'd be signing with the modern equivalent of a showbusiness manager like Harry M Miller and give them 50% of any third party agreements they could negotiate. Those guys get millions for anyone with a profile.
RL managers just try to screw the clubs and pick up money for nothing.
 
I already love how literally no one believes the Roosters TPA deals are accurate.

It says enough really.

Broncos figure is also a bit left to the imagination, more likely to be 3x that much.

The Bulldogs also probably have 10x more at the least then the amount disclosed.

Our one is probably a bit low, was expecting closer to $300k which would feel about right.
